  • Ooh, valid question! I think I have to say yes, because traditional dumplings weren't filled the way most are today, they were just a boiled or fried starch. Tapioca starch is mixed with boiling water to create boba, so, if you have a boba tea, that becomes soup again because you have added dumplings to your broth.

  • Nope. Obviously, pointing out the reality of the situation and asking to discuss possible ways to overcome the very real and very difficult barriers the capitalists have erected means you actually secretly agree that those barriers should be in place and therefore think we should do nothing instead.

I say this as a lefty AuDHDer: the amount of neurodivergent black-white thinking in leftist communities is extremely concerning. Kind of comes with the territory, probably, given that authoritarians want us dead, but it can create some serious infighting. It should not be controversial to acknowledge the fact that in our current climate, single payer is almost impossible thanks to the opposition from the capitalists.

  • Schadenfreude/revenge porn.

Not a great benefit but most humans like to indulge in it from time to time 🤷🏻‍♀️

But in the long run it would be better for marginalized communities if the assholes all just disappeared immediately so while the schadenfreude would be delectable it's probably not worth it.

  • See, they're still just barely scared enough of the populace that they feel the need for a cover story. They worry that if they just exorbitantly raise prices without a "valid enough" reason, the working class will actually turn against them. But enough of the working class still has some faith in capitalism for them to believe the corpos when they throw up their hands performatively and say "there's nothing we can do! It's the market forces!", so they keep the cover story to placate the masses and prevent us from doing too much research on how to build guillotines.

Don't worry, we're only a few years away from the point at which they stop caring about the facade!

  • A perpetual license doesn't mean the company supports it forever; you know that, right? I have a copy of Quickbooks 2015 that I got the license key for from a closing company for about $25. I will never have to pay another dime for it, it's a perpetual license and will run indefinitely. I just don't get any updates at all, and I can't run anything that requires updates or subscriptions like payroll or advanced features. But that's absolutely fine for my purposes and works the same for many, many people. This is how things should be - if I'm fine with using an outdated version, there is zero reason I need a subscription license.

  • Longer than that, even! Circa 2003/04 my 14 year old ass was getting chewed out by shitty Karens because they couldn't fathom the idea of a young teen girl sporting a pixie cut and wearing baggy metal tees, skate jeans and vans. I've actually resorted - more than once - to showing my used menstrual products as proof. Well, more as a way to harass them back, but. You know.

Joke's on me, though, I guess, since I'm actually genderfluid lol.

  • Yeah, I spend hours digitally sculpting parts sometimes, and then once it's printed I spend hours filling and sanding the build lines and painting. Having also built parts by hand, they're equally skilled work in different ways. Digital sculpting is just a lot less messy which means it's much easier for me to do at home, lol. Do not miss the days of hand-sculpting foam and making silicone molds and fiberglass parts.

  • This was the one. Every once in a while my brain just says "hey, remember that fucked up story where the kids had a smart room that became whatever they wanted and it spoiled them to the point they murdered their parents with lions? Wasn't that fucked up? Let's think about how fucked up it was for a while!"

It was 7th grade for me, but still, I can't believe we read that as kids.

Sales of recreational marijuana to begin in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sales of recreational marijuana will begin this week in Ohio as the state’s Division of Cannabis Control issues the first dual-use dispensary certificates of operation on Tuesday.

This comes nine months after Ohio voters approved Issue 2 back in November to “to legalize the possession and use of marijuana by individuals aged 21 and over.”
