  • F in the chat for some of our best MPs. Niki Ashton, Matthew Green, Laurel Collins among them. Some of Canada's most progressive voices and most outspoken allies of the Palestinian cause in Ottawa.

    They will be missed.

Edit: Just wanna drop this speech here that Green gave about Gaza last year. Probably the best one even given in Parliament.

  • Picked up the new DLC and started a new Tropico6 sandbox island. So far so good.

  • Salary pay

Salary pay is awesome if you get overtime, which I understand is not the case in The Burger Reich. But in

for example you get time and a half pay for extra hours worked, and it's nice not having to clock/log your hours all the damned time.

  • The only - ONLY - reason that we've gotten away with being so shit is that we're every so slightly less shit than our immediate and only neighbour to the south. If we compare ourselves to like any other OECD or G7 country we're a disgrace (particularly with respect to how little we spend on social programs/services but also shit like poverty and police violence)

Those big GDP numbers about interprovincial trade barriers are wrong

In response to the threat of Trump tariffs, an old narrative about interprovincial trade barriers has risen from the dead. The idea that eliminating supposedly massive internal trade barriers would lead to thousands of dollars per year in gains for ordinary Canadians makes for great soundbites for politicians, but should we really believe that there is a free lunch to be had?

While politicians and media figures have claimed that Canada’s GDP could grow by up to $240 billion, such incredibly large numbers simply don’t make sense based on what we know about interprovincial trade. Prior economic research on purported barriers to trade comes up with numbers that are an order of magnitude smaller.

  • F in the chat comrade. Get lots of rest. Do not exercise. Sleep as much you can.

You’ll want to fact check this but IIRC zinc tablets can help but don’t eat them on an empty stomach or you’ll violently puke.

An east-west oil pipeline is a trap—Canada needs an east-west electricity grid

Clean electricity is perhaps Canada’s greatest strategic asset in the 21st century. Already, more than 80 per cent of electricity generated in the country is non-emitting. As more and more of the economy electrifies—everything from electric vehicles to heat pumps to steel furnaces—we will need to double or even triple total electricity production, which Canada is well-positioned to do given our existing infrastructure, expertise and geography.

In this pivotal moment, the nation-building project Canada needs is not another oil pipeline that traps us in a costly, declining industry, but an east-west electricity grid that enables a productive, resilient economy for the century to come.

All Yank liquor to be pulled from BC Liquor shelves

“Today, we are ordering the removal of all American beer, wine, spirits and refreshment beverages from the shelves at BCLIQUOR stores. The stores carry hundreds of types of U.S. alcohol that the BC Liquor Distribution Branch will also no longer be purchasing.

OTTAWA — A new poll suggests that more than a quarter of Canadians — 27 per cent — now see the United States as an “enemy” country, while another 30 per cent still say they consider the U.S. an ally.

Another 27 per cent of respondents to the Leger survey said they consider the United States to be a “neutral” country.

The poll comes as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens to impose economically devastating tariffs on Canada and has repeatedly pushed the idea that Canada should become a U.S. state.

THOSE ARE ROOKIE NUMBERS WE GOTTA GET THOSE NUMBERS UP

Will any party propose a Canada first foreign policy?

when Freeland was appointed foreign affairs minister after Trump first won the presidency, a US embassy official in Ottawa dispatched a cable to the State Department in Washington titled “Canada Adopts ‘America First’ Foreign Policy.” Uncovered by Communist Party researcher Jay Watts through a freedom of information request, the largely redacted cable noted that Trudeau’s government would be “Prioritizing U.S. Relations, ASAP” and that Trudeau promoted Freeland “in large part because of her strong U.S. contacts.”

Amazon pulling out of Quebec, accused of union busting

    Canadian Labour

Amazon is shutting down its Quebec facilities, cutting over 1,700 jobs under the guise of "cost savings." Let’s be clear: this is union busting, plain and simple.

My wall-mounted plant germination station is complete! 🌱

Been cooking this idea for a while and finally got all the equipment for it. Took me all day but it's finally done! Just gotta plug it into a timer once January comes around.

Context: I love gardening but my place gets exactly zero natural light inside, so I had to devise some way of germinating seeds indoors in the cold months before spring rolls around when I can move them all outside. Last year I just put all my plants on a counter top and pointed some lights at them, but that quickly became very messy and I ran out of space. This way, everything is up and out of the way and I'll have ample space for all my plants 🌱

Btw I don't know why there are those black streaks across the picture something to do with how the lights refract I guess I dunno.

    For those curious, the equipment:

    • Wall mounted storage cabinet
    • 2X Spider Farmer Glow30 grow lights
    • 2X computer fans (I used two Noctua fans because I had some spares laying around from a previous PC build but you could use anything

look at my dutch bucket. LOOK AT IT

    Here's the basic design:

2 tomatoes, 2 cape gooseberry, 2 ghost pepper

My first attempt at outdoor hydroponics

The tomato plants are an eldritch horror

    but growing some lovely fruit

Cape gooseberries have some flowers but I don't think they usually bloom until later in the year. The ghost peppers have been drowned out by the obnoxiously large tomatoes, I don't expect any peppers from them I'm afraid.

So far I'd say my first attempt has been a mo

Edit2: I realised that I spelled Pissingers name wrong in the title. Pity.
