  • So which toothpastes should we buy in Europe?

Crest and Sensodyne are named in the article. Oral-B, Colgate and Aim are also owned by American companies. The only other brand I know of is Aquafresh, whose parent company also owns Sensodyne.

  • however during the tendon building stage you'll feel your arms being incorporated a lot, that might explain why you feel pressups they work the arms.

Is this why I feel my biceps giving up before my core, shoulders or any other muscle? (Last question I hope, thanks for the help so far)

  • Don't pushups target the triceps? So you need something else for biceps. I'm gonna try and do them anyway, I already started doing planks some days ago and tested how many pushups I can do (not a lot). I guess I should start from the knees, then get a pull up bar to add some pulling to my routine

  • Thanks for the detailed reply. In cases like this, it's easy to miss the forest for the trees -- the forest being the development of a country, and the trees being some flaws of its leader. The point I was trying to make with the Casa Poporului is that the average person would probably feel discontent with its massive size, while basic goods where rationed (I said sanctioned by mistake). I've read that a lot of stuff was rationed in an attempt to save as much money as possible in order to pay the IMF loans. So I assume that this was a harsh contradiction at the time.

  • Maybe as a Romanian you can give me some more nuanced input, but without a lot of research my idea is that Ceausescu was one of the worst leaders, maybe to the point that he did not go peacefully for the wrong reasons.

I've read that people were evicted overnight in order to build the Palatul Parlamentului. But even if that is false, he started building it while basic goods were sanctioned which I imagine was not the most popular move. His house also seems needlessly luxurious.

  • As Blackrock (the infamous investment company) shows, you can meaningfully influence the actions of companies with much less than 10% of ownership. Blackrock makes companies their removed with 2% ownership.

Can you explain how this happens and give some examples?

  • Not at all. The only similarity is that LLMs work with text, and the document formats can also represent text.

Each format (E.g pdf, json, excel) has a defined standard, so all you have to do to change between each other is to map one format's fields to the others. You don't need (and won't get good results) from having an LLM produce the new format from scratch.

What he's asking is the equivalent of asking if there's an LLM made specifically for solving arithmetic problems. Why would you try to solve addition using an LLM?

Daily stretches - where to start?

I'd like to start doing regular stretches, either daily or 3-4 times a week, whatever is best. Do you have any beginner programs and tips to share?

I'd also like to incorporate a ~5 minute plank workout I found online. I think stretches should always been last, so I should start with the planks, right? Does doing 5 minutes of planks warrant a warm up before starting?

Resources to read on Iran, the Shah's regime and its overthrow?

I'd like something that goes over the American interference in the region, debunks myths about the Shah's government (for example, I've seen people here mention that only the wealthy dressed like westerners) and explains how the Iranian revolution happened.

Is Targeting Iran any good? I know Chomsky has some shit takes but he usually does a good job dismantling US narrative & propaganda

Is the 996 working hours system still a thing?

If someone doesn't know what I'm referring to, 996 refers to working 9am-9pm 6 days a week, which some Chinese companies enforce (or enforced) on their employee. Jack Ma, for example, has spoken in support of it.

Wikipedia says that the Supreme People's Court deemed it illegal in 2021. I don't know about China's court system in detail (or any country's, really) but my understanding is that cases go to a higher court if someone successfully appeals the decision of a lower court. Shouldn't something like a 72 hour workweek be stricken down before reaching the supreme court?

I've heard that Huawei still enforces this, for example. I don't have sources because I've heard it from someone with Chinese acquaintances, so some fact-checking is appreciated.
