I guess Tom Gores had a lot a money to burn
Yeah, since at least 2001: https://web.archive.org/web/20070814001756/http://www.tnt.tv/title/?oid=623948-3829
Oof my bad, thanks for the correction 👍🏼

RIP Mr. Clutch / The Logo
He may not have won an NBA Championship as a player, but his legacy is unparalleled both on the floor and as an executive

Happy cake day, by the way 🎂
The NBA just can't resist themselves
Gentleman's sweep, incoming
To be fair, the Pistons have been a shithole for almost 2 decades now, even before Tom Gores' ownership. It all started in 2008 with Joe Dumars' horrible decision to ship off Chauncey Billups
Too bad the Knicks couldn't pull off the same comeback in the earlier game. Gg Pacers and Timberwolves!
Didn't even need Gobert to demolish the defending champs
This was part of the reason why the "yellows" are losing since 2016
Pinoys dig up ‘Personal Injury Court’ ep on April Fools’ ‘tattoo disaster’ after viral P100K challenge
Filipinos are bringing up a clip of an episode of an old American syndicated nontraditional court show where a man got a tattoo on his forehead after falling for a prank on April Fools’ Day.
This was resurfaced after Taragis, a Pampanga-based takoyaki food brand, gained traction for challenging its followers on Facebook to have its logo tattooed on their foreheads for P100,000.
In the now-deleted viral post, the brand announced that the first individual who would send a picture of their tattooed forehead will win the supposed cash prize.
The post was uploaded on April 1, the same date the global community observes the annual day of jokes and pranks.
Taragis also wrote the following text in its graphic: “Click the photo for official rules.”
Clicking the photo accompanying its Facebook post reveals a full version of the graphic with a colorful text below, which reads: “April Fool’s.”
Basically, someone actually followed through with the "challenge" and had his

Glad to announce that one of our previous mods, @rezz, has been reinstated to Lemmy.world
@rezz was banned from the instance more than a week ago, as I explained here. I've only logged back to Lemmy.world that day, which is why it wasn't detected sooner.
Now that his account's been reinstated, I'm calling for assistance from my fellow mods to bring him back to the team (I don't know how 🥲 )
I figured out how, thanks to this doc. Welcome back again, @rezz! 🥳 🎉

I had to make this post manually because @rezz, the mod who routinely posts this, has been banned from the instance 6 days ago by a new Lemmy.world admin. It was because his posts contained links to NBA streams, which are now prohibited in the instance.
Any thoughts, fellow c/NBA visitors and mods? @Hurts @VodkaSolution @Alchemy @[email protected] @[email protected] @cavsfan

Draymond: Silver talked me out of retirement
Warriors star Draymond Green said in his podcast that NBA commissioner Adam Silver talked him out of retirement in the wake of his latest suspension.
In an emotional conversation around the time of his indefinite league suspension, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green suggested that NBA commissioner Adam Silver talked him out of retirement, according to a new episode of "The Draymond Green Show."
In a clip of the podcast on Volume Sports shared with ESPN on Monday morning, Green, after hitting Phoenix center Jusuf Nurkic in the face on Dec. 12, said he shared an exchange with Silver that included talk about his immediate desire to walk away from the NBA.
"I told him, 'Adam this is too much for me. ... This is too much. It's all becoming too much for me -- and I'm going to retire,'" Green said. "And Adam said, 'You're making a very rash decision and I won't let you do that.'
"We had a long, great conversation -- very helpful to me. Very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who's more about helping you than hurting you; helping you than punishing you. He's more about the players."

Amid CPP ceasefire, AFP says 9 suspected communists killed on Christmas Day
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 25) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said it killed nine suspected communists on Christmas Day amid the two-day ceasefire declared by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
The AFP said its Fourth Infantry Division on Monday morning conducted a military offensive against suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA)—the armed wing of the CPP—in the areas around barangays Can-ayan, Kibalabag, Kulaman, and Mapulo, all located in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Authorities also seized eight firearms from the NPA members.
The CPP announced a ceasefire beginning Christmas Day as it marks its 55th anniversary on Dec. 26.
On Dec. 25, the military said it would continue to be watchful and conduct peacekeeping operations even during the CPP's ceasefire.
Late last month, the Marcos administration and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines—the CPP's umbrella organization—agreed to resume the peace talks.

Filipino-Ivorian fencer hopes she'll be the last athlete to switch nationalities
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-Ivorian fencer Maxine Esteban said she looks forward to the day that no national athlete hoping to bring honor to the country will have to chase their dreams elsewhere.
“I hope I will be the last,” said the highest-ranked Philippine-born fencer in the world, who finally opened up on the circumstances that led to her switching her allegiance to Cote d’Ivoire.
“Napakasakit po. Sobra akong nabastos,” Esteban told Power and Play over the weekend. “My prayer and hope is that whatever happened to me would never happen to any Filipino athlete. What [my federation] did to me was extremely hurtful, unfair and disrespectful.”
Esteban said things started to sour when she got injured while representing the Philippines in the World Championship in Egypt in July last year.
The eight-time national champion and the only Filipino fencer World Cup multi-medalist tore her ACL, which required a six-month rehabilitation program. Esteban said that upon learning the exten
