  • Are the colors for the up/down vote buttons higher contrast? That's the one thing I hate about the darkly-compact theme. I ended up overriding them because the blue upvote is barely different from the default grey color.

If anyone wants the same, it's this CSS override. I use the Nighteye extesnion to enforce dark mode on everything, though for Lemmy it's just these two.

  • It would be nice if they actually fixed the stability issues in Apple Intelligence before they start adding more layers of slop to it. Writing tools summarization has been broken off and on since it launched.

  • I think your estimate is flawed. The article does state $3500, but that's consumer cost. The profit margin would already be baked into that. Barring a democracy-ending chain of events in the US, Apple wouldn't even have time to move manufacturing to the US in a meaningful enough way to get to this price point before the end of 47's term. $2000 iPhones with baked in consumer taxes (tariffs)? Absolutely, though.

  • “I will guarantee you, 99.99 percent with confidence, Russia and China are monitoring those two phones,” Bacon told CNN’s Manu Raju. “So I just think it’s a security violation, and there’s no doubt that Russia and China saw this stuff within hours of the actual attacks on Yemen or the Houthis.”

This "article" provides zero evidence of the assertion, and just assumes China and Russia own these phones with an on-device compromise? Signal is encrypted, unlike the SMS infrastructure which has been fully owned by China for years. The only known way to compromise it is on a device itself, not by "monitoring" these devices (watching SMS traffic). Or, this pundit knows about secret Signal hacks the rest of the world doesn't...

Signal doesn't bridge to SMS any more, so I fail to see how these messages would be intercepted unless these people are walking around with compromised phones. Yes, it'd only take one person in this group to compromise the whole thing, but making this assertion without any explainer is just clickbait.

Any way to change background color of CarPlay's "Now Playing" view?

For me, it's a light grey color and the text is white, even when CarPlay is set to always use dark mode. This is hard for me to read, but I can't find any way to change this. I'd rather just have an actual dark background when in dark mode.
