  • This was a fascinating and enjoyable piece of news media.

In fact, I really think we should share the official version of the story instead of the 3rd party link there. My apologies if it was intentionally excluded for whatever those weird CBC Social media rules are.

  • It's about 3 seconds of googling to find out that there will be byelection in Battle River-Crowfoot, which went 81.8% in favour of the Conservative candidate. Polievre will run there, get swept in, and pretend that he represents Canadians.

  • A good while back, Chrome was superior. Faster yes, but also more polished and intuitive as browsers go.

Also, Google was "Do no Evil", and Firefox was good, but not great.

Today, Firefox is still good, and Google is evil.

  • The definition of conservative needs to change. We're allowed to be fiscally conservative without being hateful bigots. The problem is, the existing parties keep aligning themselves with the wack-jobs, and the alternatives are... the Liberals.

  • Consumer grade Linux Mint is impossible to differentiate from Windows/MacOS.

Install Firefox. Install Chrome. Install Steam.

Test it out on an old laptop or computer. It's trivial. Your life will improve.

  • Anyone?

  • In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression.
