  • From my initial research for my own Samsung watch, I think you'll probably be required to use the Samsung app to connect your watch as Samsung uses a non-standard bluetooth encryption which requires their specific app to connect correctly. I tried many times with gadgetbridge to no luck.

  • Yup, my thoughts on this subject exactly and its so frustrating watching both tech people and non-tech people alike, adopt it in the guise of better battery life. The tech people should know better, but they either aren't "hardware people" so they don't know, or they do know, and don't care.

  • Did they take this idea from the TV show Poker Face? Because there's an episode involving this, except its not an urn, its a record, pressed with the remains into the vinyl.

  • 🤷‍♂️ I guess you're right, but the take away I got from their last sentence was ICE buying more weapons isn't something they are concerned about or want to hear about, unless its machine guns and hellfire missiles. That's the dismissive part to me. They're saying it's not news worthy unless it's an escalation from the weapons regular police departments already have.

I was the one saying this [ice buying more weapons] is a threat. To U.S. civilians.

  • Maybe I'm not reading your tone correctly, I get you're maybe trying to correct some misinformation about "missiles topped with warheads", but this seems to be really, REALLY downplaying the threat here, especially with the last line of "if they're buying this other shit, let us know" like what they currently have access to isn't bad enough for the threat to US civilians?

I'm just wondering why you took this take. Again, unless i misread things here. It just seems extremely dismissive of basically a shadow army loyal to Trump.

  • I'm pointing out your phrasing choice wasn't the best.

On an article where the headline says democrats were interrupting his speech you said Democrats are spineless. Could have just left it at democrat leadership.

Thats all i'm saying. But please go back to calling me names for daring to question why you're blaming ALL DEMOCRATS on an article where SOME DEMOCRATS were heckling him.

  • Democrats defy their leaders by relentlessly disrupting and heckling Trump SOTU speech

Wait, so the ones disrupting the speeches are spineless?

  • Wtf is it with filesystem developers and going off the deep end?? Remember the ReiserFS guy who murdered his wife?

  • Yup.

Its coming to light in modern times, that they realized they could grab land and money by accusing vulnerable people, and then just taking their land when they couldn't defend themselves against a confession under torture.

  • There's this weird phenomenon that people tend to think those in the past were less intelligent than now, when really it was history being spun a certain way. For example: the witch burning thing, most people accusing witches, etc didn't actually believe that shit. Its coming to light in modern times, that they realized they could grab land and money by accusing vulnerable people, and then just taking their land when they couldn't defend themselves against a confession under torture.

Keep in mind all the advancements and progress humans have made in mathemathics and sciences over the last few thousand years. Those people weren't stupid, if they were doing stupid things, its probably because they were evil (like burning witches for their own financial gain)

  • Ahhh, I see

  • Well old Patel showed up to I'm assuming 'encourage' them to go, so they're probably all afraid for their families at this point.

    -- edit ---

Oorrr they're pieces of shit, apparently.

  • If you go this route and its a semi permanent solution, would probably be better to get a ip camera or something instead of a smart phone, that way you don't have to worry about the phone battery going bad from being plugged in 24/7.

  • I think this stuff sort of depends on how often you upgrade drives. I bought 2 4TB drives in 2015 running in a ZFS mirror, spinning 24/7 as I had heard that the hardest time on a spinning disk is the initial spin up from cold boot, or sleep. (I'm not sure is this if true anymore, but I had disabled sleep on the drives, regardless)

5 years later, I bought 2 10TB drives to upgrade my storage capacity, and relocated the 4TB mirror to media content, and stuff that was replaceable if the drives failed, so I didn't need to really back it up.

Juuust now, at the end of 2025, 1 of the initial 4 TB drives failed and now my 'old' ZFS mirror is in a degraded state running on 1 drive, but the drive that failed lasted 10 years.

I bet the average home lab or self hoster is probably upgrading and replacing their drives with higher capacity more often than 10 years, so they probably would never actually see a drive fail in real life use.

  • bUT ReAGaN sAiD it wAS gOoD FoR mEee!!!!

  • My theory is, I saw one of the USA team members say representing the USA right now has brought up conflicting feelings for him, which riled the orange idiot up, so I figure they sent old Patel over there to send a signal and intimidate the olympian, and also warn him not to have any more public outbursts, "or else".

Of course I haven't paid any attention to the olympics other than that one headline, so maybe he just went to revel in his own corruption. Who knows.

  • I appreciate the link, I'll look into it, thanks!

  • Explain how you think that would help.
