This was my first ever experience getting to see a live Formula 1 race and had no idea what I…

The first season started off so incredibly well. I recently cancelled Netflix and this just reinforces my decision.
Says you! I reorganized my closet this weekend!
I feel like someone without hobbies has no outlet. Everyone has emotional baggage, but if you never do anything with it, the only receiving end will be their friends and family.
Hobbies also show that the person is capable of starting and finishing things without someone else’s input or support. If you can’t maintain some plants or a drawing, how do you expect to maintain something as complex as a relationship
On your last point, I moved 5 years ago when I was 28 with no friends or family to speak of outside of online. It’s never too late. My best luck making friends have been in context. In other words, I never went to a place to specifically make friends. I met them all when I was doing other things.
The biggest change for me was joining a kickboxing gym. I’m not an athlete by any stretch, but it allowed me to gain confidence, which I quickly learned is about the most attractive trait you can have.
The only way to get better at meeting new people is to try and fail. Hopefully through some trial and error, you can find an activity you enjoy that happens to involve others rather than trying to go places to meet people.
It’s going to sound dismissive, but I don’t go to others. I’ve found in my times of feeling the most alone, the only thing that allowed me to feel different was introspection.
I do absolutely understand the primal desire to be around others for support, but self-sufficiency and finding satisfaction without the help of others was my only way forward.
It wasn’t so much that I needed to change or that I was doing something wrong, but I forced myself to focus on those feelings and try to understand where they were coming from and learned that other things in my life gave me that satisfaction. For me, I make art when I’m feeling the most alone because it allows me to express that feeling.
Another thing that may come across as harsh is that you’re the only one in charge of your own happiness. If you feel like none of your friends are supporting you, it’s up to you to go out and find new people to fill their space.
Friends that are only there for you when you’re feeling good are not friends.
It also contradicts itself immediately, saying she’s fertile, then immediately saying she’s had her ovaries removed end that she’s reached menopause.
As much as MM1 is a slower movie, I actually appreciate it as a foundation for the others. It really lets your mind imagine how things went from 1 to 2.
I hear the creature that lives in there can triple in size at certain times of the year.
If you’re new to it, my personal recommendation is OPNsense for the router OS and UniFi for the AP. You can run the controller software from OPNsense directly through a plugin making management pretty simple.
You have to get industrial hardware built to last. I picked up an all-metal network appliance back in 2015 and it’s still kicking. Handles gigabit just fine as well. Here’s a random example of the type of thing I got (the exact one I got went out of sale years ago): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FKMJGD6/
You also end up having to split out your Wi-Fi to a dedicated access point this way for another ~$80, but you end up with a rock-solid setup that you can upgrade the software on year over year. I’ve ran at least 3 different OSs at this point since I’ve owned it and it’s handled them all perfectly. I’ve only had to upgrade my Wi-Fi AP once in that time.
I was going to say, Mac and iOS make it pretty easy to get to and it looks better than a regular dash in context. Then again, I’m one of the few people that I know that only writes in full punctuation at all times.
Yep. I use mine exclusively for code I’m going to open-source anyway and work stuff. And never for anything critical. I treat it like an intern. You still have to review their work…
I think their point stands. I wonder if the creator of the show was directly influenced by Cray.
Similarly, my XP install just died and I didn’t have a copy of Windows to reinstall. Gnome 2 taught me computers don’t have to look or feel boring and the terminal taught me they weren’t scary.
Learned a lot that first year.
Help! Help! I’m being repressed! See the violence inherent in the system!
I once had a post that got significantly downvoted and I didn’t delete it.
I love that I recognize the expression from the poo-brain horse in Adventure Time.
If it’s serious enough, I’m sure they could trace it back with a request to the ISP. I’d have to imagine they keep a log of everything.
My experience at a Formula 1 event (Las Vegas 2024)
This was my first ever experience getting to see a live Formula 1 race and had no idea what I…
I put together an article of my first-hand account of what it was like to see a Formula 1 event, plus some of my proudest pictures.
Lloyd’s Accumatic 310
Spotted this at my local flea market. My first VFD display!
I work in quality control at a scissors company
I have to reject any that don’t make the cut.
Looking for recommendations for artists that are the most fun to learn to sing
Everyone knows all the classic stuff you hear in karaoke bars, but I always enjoy artists that can make lyrics that you love singing along to.
I’m not necessarily talking about the best lyrics or the most thoughtful, but the ones that you love belting out with confidence even when a friend is in the car. Think Bohemian Rhapsody scene from Wayne’s World.
I’m curious if there are some lesser-known artists that are just as fun to sing along to, but never got their time on the radio.
Seeing F1 for the first time ever this weekend!
This is only my test picture. I’ll be posting a full album from my DSLR later next week.
It is insane just how big these events are and how surprisingly well organized everything has been. Really impressed overall with how alive everything has been.
I had earplugs plus noise canceling headphones on and the engines were still clear as day. Absolutely insane how fast they go. GA is sat right around the sphere and it’s a pretty heavy breaking zone. Even then, trying to track the cars for a good shot proved really challenging. Definitely pushed my skills.
And totally unrelated, but I also learned OneRepublic is responsible for like 90% of the modern pop radio that I hate. So that was fun to sit through…
I'm going see Formula 1 for the first time next month - Anything I should know?
I’ll be going to see the Las Vegas GP. I’ve never been to a Formula 1 race and don’t know what to expect from the days surrounding the race. Are there any tips you wish you knew before going the first time? I plan on going to the full race weekend and not sure what to bring to make my stay more comfortable. Also, any tips on stops I should make in that area of Vegas while I’m there?
