  • I think the reading ruler effect is a big part of the accessibility being discussed here. If you want to separate the issues out, consider if browsers didn't show selected text by inverting the background color, but by e.g. underlining the selected text - you're right that it's still important to be able to do that, but the reading ruler is also important.

The use of text selection as a nearly ubiquitous reading ruler is a neat cultural thing that shouldn't be broken lightly, but it's not necessarily the only way browsers and websites could implement it.

  • Piastri lost the win at the first corner, I think even if Max had overall better pace it wouldn't have been enough to overtake under normal circumstances.

From there, in hindsight, the fastest strategy would have been to sit behind Max and push through the overheating Mediums. But Piastri and team had to try to go for the lead with an undercut because they're racers, nothing can be said against that.

With two mistakes overall, I think third place is the smallest penalty he could have gotten away with, it could have been much worse, and it was good to see the progress through the midfield.

Norris had to clear fewer cars to make his progress, but he did it well and had race pace meeting or exceeding Piastri's. Good to see them racing cleanly after the safety car.

  • For safety reasons, a tiny bit too fast in the pitlane was punished heavily.

Yes, that was to prevent people toying with the rules, and no matter what the speed limit is it should be heavily enforced.

But I agree we'll probably see more incidents and injuries given the close calls we've had so far. I'm all for increasing the limit as long as there are better protections around the people in the pit lane.

  • Torvalds wrote git for the Linux kernel, and then GitHub popped up because most other projects couldn't handle the decentralization. Interestingly to OP's frustration, they were using a proprietary VCS before that, and people were just as frustrated about that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git#History

What is your preferred Monaco Sunday event format?

Given overtaking is impossible for similarly matched cars and drivers can avoid pitting simply by driving slowly, what kind of event would you have for Sunday?

Best I can think of is an elimination style event: cars are released from the pits in reverse grid order with a 3s gap between each, and if you can stay within 1s of the car in front for a whole lap, that car is eliminated unless they're also within 1s of the car in front of them at the end of the lap (I guess the last checkpoint would need to be just before the pit entry).

Worst I can think of is a series of duels, where Kevin Magnussen is given an SUV and a 3s gap, and drivers need to successfully overtake in an F1 car within 1 lap.
