  • It happens way more often than I'd like to admit 😅

I also get the same with chores sometimes. I really need to do the thing while I'm thinking about it otherwise I'll have "done" it mentally but not physically.

    Background:

August 26, 2024 a dbzer0 instance admin instance banned a user, @[email protected] per "Sanctioned mod due to slanderous & unsubstantiated community ban and zero response to appeal. Ban to be lifted once issue is resolved."

From what I could gather, she received the instance ban after banning an instance member from a community ([email protected]). Whether or not the community ban is justified doesn't really seem to be an issue here, an instance ban is an extreme response to a community ban and is inherently an unbalanced action that has vastly different ramifications. This means that no local users can interact with or see the instance banned user compared to one local user not being able to interact with one community on

  • My north and south walls are shared with neighboring units, sadly. I have massive east-west facing windows and have asked for awnings to be installed, but no luck yet. Awnings are really cool though, and if given the privilege to choose where to live I'd prefer to be in a place that has them for sure.

  • Most people tend to respond well to them, it's just a matter of finding out which med works best in each individual. Luckily we have a few to choose from in Australia, so hopefully you can get one that works well for you.

  • I get a few of those dreams every now and then. It always feels good at the time, but after waking it's terrible. I always feel so sad and lonely afterwards and a part of me always wants to go back. I'm pretty sure these kinds of dreams are fairly common to experience, but I'm not sure if that's any solace.

  • When I was on antipsychotics (olanzapine, quetiapine, aripiprazole) I found that it blunted the high significantly. There's lots of other people who feel the same and I see it as a common complaint against that class of medication online.

Also, atypical antipsychotics are usually really effective trip killers. They tend to fuck with highs with a lot of drug interactions, so a lot of other drugs might not work the same.

YSK: You can donate to OSM Foundation directly

The foundation does not advertise this much, but they run a really lean operation and it would probably help to donate a bit to them. You can donate directly to them via a few means; PayPal and card, bank transfers, and Bitcoin.

Currently OSM are having issues with their ISP and still are operating from their backups in read-only. Having more funding so they can afford better redundancy may help them in future situations like this.

Also, OSM is very important imo and it would be terrible if they didn't receive enough funding to continue existing. Donating should help safeguard against that.

en.osm.town OpenStreetMap Ops Team (@[email protected])

OpenStreetMap.org is currently offline due to network outage. We are investigating. UPDATE 11:30am UTC/GMT. Website returning read-only on backup infrastructure. The outage affecting our primary services continues. UPDATE: All up and running again (17 Dec 2024 13:45 UTC/GMT)

The whole site is down and I can't upload any changesets. It doesn't appear maintenance related.

You can see some stats here:

OVIC finds department responsible for breaches of privacy through use of ChatGPT

Investigation finds that the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing failed to take reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy of personal information and to protect personal information from unauthorised disclosure

Investigation into the use of ChatGPT by a Child Protection worker

In December 2023, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) reported a privacy incident to the Office of the Information Commissioner (OVIC), explaining that a Child Protection worker had used ChatGPT when drafting a Protection Application Report (PA Report). The report had been submitted to the Children’s Court for a case concerning a young child whose parents had been charged in relation to sexual offences.

Despite its popularity, there are a range of privacy risks associated with the use of generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT. Most

Lemmy world vegan community - hostile takeover

Figured that this community would appreciate power tripping lemmy world admins :)

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/26218550

    (posting to both communities)

A carnist lemmy world instance admin has stepped in and meatsplained to the mods while restoring comments that violated the community's rules. They deleted comments that they did not agree with, citing 'misinformation', and threatened to demod the mods if those comments were removed again. The comments were deleted and the admin was banned from the community as per violating the rules of the community, that was until they unbanned themselves (admin abuse) and unmodded two of the moderators because of "promoting harmfull actions against pets".

As far as it stands, if the lemmy world community wasn't already not a safe vegan place for you (it really wasn't) it most certainly isn't now as carnists (lemmy world instance admin) currently mod it.

I suggest any vegan who wants a safe and welcoming space to

Good knowledge sources for tinkering Firefox

I am looking for alternative knowledge sources to mozillazine that's a bit more up to date.

Specifically, I am after something that explains advanced about:config options and what each sqlite file and storage directories in my profile are actually used for. When I search online for things I get unhelpful support articles from mozilla and random reddit threads with conflicting information.

I've played around with a lot of things through a lot of trial and error (I can share some about:config values if anyone's interested in them), but I'd like to be directed somewhere I can go to and check first to make sure I won't break my profile tinkering.

I already use ffprofile to set up my user.js, but I'm looking for something with more documentation without having to resort to reading the source code of firefox.
