  • It's a pain to get other app stores to get uptake on Android since Google refuses to let other app stores be distributed via Google Play. So if Steam starts to distribute games for Android, the Steam app would be thrown out from Google Play.

It's the same reason why the F-droids user base is so small and will never reach the main public. As soon as your app store needs to be installed via a third party web site, you have lost.

  • CUDA can (depending on circumstances) give slightly better performance than OpenCL. So if you know that your target hosts will have Nvidia GPUs ( for example ML in your own data centers) that might be beneficial.

OpenCL will run on multiple platforms so if you don't know the target hosts (for example consumer hardware for gaming) this makes life easier for the developer.

The frameworks and libraries around the different specs differ, so if there is a library that is useful for your use case, that will effect your decision to pick one over the other

  • Fullscreen will hide the window decorations, but that won't solve the use case of "behaving like a desktop application". I use PWAs for websites that are applications (Outlook, Teams, Spotify etc). I want these windows to be dedicated to those applications and nothing else. They should appear in my window list on alt+tab, not be able to navigate away to something else etc.

  • Similarly, Rubino says web apps in Firefox will not use a minimal browser frame and will continue to show a main toolbar with address bar, extensions, bookmarks

But why, the whole purpose is to behave like a stand alone app.

  • I would go with a trunk based approach. In other words no other long lived branches other than main. Push for review often and merge to main as soon as it's approved.

If you don't see a need for a more complex branch strategy, you probably don't need it. Branches are always an increased risk for conflicts and can be a pain to resolve.

    Fails to load subtitles

I'm using the Android tv app of Jellyfin. I usually have to select the subtitles twice. The first time I select subtitles, it will take a long time and eventually there will be an error message and no subtitles. If I then go in and select the same subtitles again, it usually works immediately.

Is this a known problem and is there anything I can do to remedy the problem?

What to play at after work?

What game should a group of around 15 colleagues play to get the most out of 3 hours after work at an internet cafe?

It's a mixed group of gamers and non gamers, and we want everyone to have a good time.

I'm thinking something where we can divide us into two teams and quite quickly get some enjoyment out of it even if most haven't played it before.
