DISCLAIMER: I don't respond to rude, snarky, or otherwise immature and mean-spirited replies. I block and ignore. Adults who want to engage with me in a mature and civil manner (even if we happen to disagree on a topic) are always welcome.

  • Because I am a very creative person, I get great enjoyment out of a high level of world detail in my campaigns. I get really bored with cookie-cutter NPCs and/or just reading and using an existing campaign setting as written. This just isn't fun for me, and if I'm not having fun, there's no point to it all. Of course, I know that sometimes life gets in the way and I simply don't have time to do all the things I want to do. It's important to know one's limits and try to just focus on what is fun, what will keep the game flowing and what will be memorable for your players. I tend to focus the most on NPCs - their personalities, mannerisms and goals. And yes, I do all the voices, too. I suck at it, but my players absolutely love it. :)

  • It really depends on the company you're applying to. If it's a small business? Yeah, no. They usually can't afford or don't want to bother with a vetting agency. If it's some big corporation? Sure, they'll probably do that. At the end of the day though, it's a question of how suspicious you or your resume look that will decide how much energy they want to put in to vetting the claims you make.

  • You're assuming that the HR department is diligent and willing to expend the energy to track you, and the other three hundred candidates' information down for this single role. In my experience, this is a wild assumption.

  • Jesus Christ this hits hard.... 😢

  • In my experience, this is pretty much the entirety of the internet.

  • Usually those good choices come from wisdom gained from screwing up. At least that's been my experience! :D

  • I think culture plays a huge part in this. In heavily industrialized countries (like America, for example), we are taught that more is always better and that living a simple life is somehow shameful or a waste of potential (not everyone believes this, of course - I'm generalizing). Many, many studies have consistently shown that the happiest people on earth are often those who lead the simplest lives. Perspective really is everything.

  • Life is making mistakes and deciding how to live with them. :)

  • There have been times in my life where I was happy but didn't realize it until it was too late, so this checks out.

  • So.....'WOOST-a-sher'? Hmm....interesting! Thanks! :)

  • Isn't it 'WORST-er-sure'?

  • I immediately thought the same thing! 😁

  • I'm pretty sure everyone understood what I meant, anyway.

  • I'm not sure I would call using a third-party email client a 'fringe' use case. As of yesterday, Thunderbird has 10,992,366 active daily installations. Sure, it's probably not as many as mobile clients, but that's still a helluva lot of people using it.

  • Dating is the 'trial phase' of a relationship. Marriage isn't required, but the more solid your relationship becomes, the more long-term commitments you're inclined to make. Ending a relationship that isn't working for you (and understanding why it isn't) is the mature and responsible thing to do.
