  • thanks for the tip, I'll check out krohnkite

  • Been a KDE user for many years. I recently started using Niri with DankMaterialShell, and it's pretty awesome. I suspect at some point I'll drift back to my beloved KDE. But I'm loving the new shiny thing at the moment.

  • I keep a win10 VM around that I fire up on the rare instance I need to do something in windows. I agree with forgetting about dual boot.

  • Sí. AIQ

  • All my airport signs run Arch, BTW.

  • Right, the thing that caught my eye was running a full desktop OS for a sign board.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

    Ubuntu spotted in the wild

  • I love getting the questions (not necessarily from old people) like "how do I do X in Y app?".

I watch them stare and click random things then give up.

I've never used Y app so google "how to do X in Y app". Click first result "how to do X in Y app"

me: I googled it. here's how to do X.

them: amazed at my tech skills

  • Kid Rock is country? I thought he was shitty rap rock. Or is any MAGA artist now deemed "country"?

  • It's the English way

  • And then one day you find Ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run You missed the starting gun

    -Pink Floyd

  • That sounds fun. Now I want one, too.

  • Why do you need a Geiger counter? It looks like a cool device, but why is it EDC?

  • The food culture of Mexico is amazing, and if you're eating at the right places there is usually no option but to speak Spanish! I've had to request "más picante" before, though generally that is at restaurants used to serving gringos. At tianguis or taco guys on the street there's usually no problem getting the spice.

  • One of my proudest moments as a white dude who likes spicy stuff was when a buddy and I were hanging out with some local guys while on a trip to Mexico. I was just chowing down on some super hot salsa and one of the Mexican guys gets real excited and starts calling me "the blond Mexican". I'm sure my wife is tired of that story, but I will continue to tell it to her for the rest of my days.

  • Lake disappointment (contains no water)

Well, that would be very disappointing if your lake had no water. So I think they nailed that one.

  • al-gayda?

  • I absolutely love driving my car, a manual VW GTI, which is pretty much a "driver's car" and I think it's dumb, too. If people like it then that's cool, but not for me.

  • I don't get this kind of stuff at all. And this is coming from someone who drives a manual transmission car. Electric cars don't need transmissions, why would I want to pretend to shift gears? It's like the fake engine noise. Very silly.

  • Wait... I thought he was a jihadist? Or does this mean that jihadists now like the gays? I'm so confused.
