Selbstverständlich ist Luft nach oben — deswegen bin ich Mitglied einer Gewerkschaft und einer Partei. Ich finde nur die Implikation falsch, dass da ein uns fremdes System etwas verlangt. Wir haben das so konstruiert.
Wir haben versucht ein System zu schaffen, welches Chancengleichheit und einen würdevollen Lebensstandard für alle bietet. Damit meine ich auch alle, und nicht nur diejenigen, die eine wirtschaftliche Leistung erbringen.
In diesem kapitalistiachen system hat sich dann trotzdem das Geld und die macht bei einigen wenigen gesammelt, die das system zu ihren gunsten zurechtgebogen haben.
Du musst auch kein Geld haben oder verdienen. Nur, wenn Du dann von anderen möchtest, dass Sie Dir ein Haus bauen, Dich medizinisch versorgen oder andere Leistungen erbringen, musst Du einen Ausgleich dafür vorschlagen. Aus Nächstenliebe baut Dir niemand ein Auto.
Ich will ja nicht sagen, dass Geld völlig zwecklos ist, natürlich muss man für die Leistungen der Anderen auch etwas geben, insofern man dazu in der Lage ist. Was ich damit sagen wollte, ist, dass es eben nicht wirklich eine Möglichkeit ist, dieses System zu boykottieren indem man aussteigt.
Es gibt keine richtige Option, um gegen die Schere zwischen arm und reich anzukämpfen. Entweder man steigt komplett aus und spaltet sich von über 99% der Gesellschaft ab, oder man macht mit, und tritt nach unten. Man könnte jetzt darüber diskutieren, dass man zwar die Wahl darüber hat, wie fest man nach unten tritt, aber in meinen Augen macht das wenig Unterschied. Und als Rudeltiere sind die meisten Menschen auch nicht gerade heiß darauf, sich sozial zu verstümmeln.
Ich denke es kann durchaus ein System geben, in dem (wirtschaftliche) Leistung belohnt wird, aber die Abwesenheit von dieser Leistung nicht damit bestraft wird, dass die Existenzgrundlagen entzogen, oder auf ein lächerliches minimum reduziert werden.
Der weg zu diesem System ist ein langer, und verlangt, dass die breite Masse bezüglich Klassenkampf gebildet ist. Aktuell gibt es aber viel zu viel neoliberale Propaganda, die dazu führt, dass ein großer teil der Gesellschaft hart daran arbeitet das Hamsterrad weiter drehen zu lassen.

Naja, das glaube ich weniger. Ich denke im Kapitalismus sammelt sich die macht bei den reichen, die natürlich wollen, dass es so bleibt. Der durchschnittliche Arbeiter wünscht sich aber sicherlich Veränderung, hat aber kaum bis keinen Einfluss auf das geschehen.
Wir reproduzieren das System durch eigenes Handeln. Es gibt kein oktroyiertes System, das von uns irgendwas verlangt — wir sind das System.
Es mag stimmen, dass wir das System durch unser handeln stärken. Das System zwingt uns aber zu einem gewissen Grad dazu. Um an der Gesellschaft teilzuhaben ist man effektiv gezwungen Lohnarbeit zu machen. Ohne Geld wird es schwierig Freunde zu haben. Ohne Moos nix los, stimmt halt leider. Es stimmt zwar auch, dass die schönsten Dinge im leben kostenlos sind, aber die notwendigen Begebenheiten die diese Dinge ermöglichen sind eben nicht kostenlos.
Und ich habe damit kein Problem. Die soziale Marktwirtschaft hat uns den höchsten Lebensstandard in der Geschichte der Menschheit beschert.

The problem is that anyone has a net worth that high to begin with. Nobody is able to work that much harder than a regular worker.
I think its quite a different thing for someone who has a net worth in the millions. It's not the same at all for someone living paycheck to paycheck.

Seine Schmerzen wurden weniger entschädigt als der Sachschaden. Leider ist das hier in Deutschland so. Und in dem Kontext ist das, was die Polizistin hier bekommt, tatsächlich eine beachtliche Summe, finde ich.

And since the boards want them specifically as CEOs, they end up paying what the CEOs are asking for. So the CEOs are paying themselves with some extra steps. Or am I missing something?

Unable to install on e/OS
e/OS is a privacy focused android version that still allows users to install apps from the Play Store by spoofing user data. It uses it's own store called App Lounge, and it works fine for most apps. For some reason, Boost for Lemmy doesn't install when I click install, like all other apps, instead it opens the Play Store website inside a webview. Installing from the website doesn't work for me. I was wondering if the developer provides the APK somewhere? I only found some sketchy links so far.
Clean all URLs in clipboard
I know firefox has the very useful "Copy clean Link" option in the context menu, but I would like a similar feature for copying links from any other software, like spotify for example. So I am looking for some software that hooks into the clipboard pipeline, and cleans any URL that gets added. I tried googling for something like it, but was completely unsuccessful. Does anyone have a clue how I might go about achieving this?

Edit: I found out about klipper's actions, which provide the option to run a command when a string that matches a regex is added to the clipboard buffer. I am not sure how to properly use this though, so any help is appreciated!

Discord update freezing system
I am relatively new to linux and would like to learn how to troubleshoot things like this. I'm not sure whether the title is indeed correct, but I've had it happen twice now that I was on discord with friends, and suddenly my whole system freezes. When I restart, the official discord client says it has an update.
Has anyone else have this happen? How do I best look for the actual cause? Or at least some error message I can google?
I am on vanilla arch, running plasma on wayland, and I've got the AUR enabled using yay. Discord is installed from the arch extra repo though.
Looking for a better emoji picker
I'm on KDE Plasma using wayland, and I'm annoyed with KDE's emoji picker. Well, the interface is fine, I just want emojis to immediately be pasted into the text field that was in focus when I used the shortcut to launch the emoji picker. Basically I want the behavior to be as close to the Windows emoji picker as possible.
Does anyone know of an alternative that allows me to quickly type 2 different emojis in succession? Bonus points when it's easily available on arch.
Please extend the textured background to 3000x5000
I found this image on insta (direct link for download that isn't compressed by lemmy) and would like to use it as my phone wallpaper, so I need to extend the background to see the whole drawing. However I'm not very good with image editors, so I would only be able to add black borders, which is obviously ugly.

Laptop randomly playing media
Edit: sadly, Auto Tab Discard did not fix my issue. Firefox is also set to block audio (including video with audio to my understanding) by default, which I never changed so I don't think that helps with this issue either.
So I installed pop on my laptop a few months ago, and recently got another one where I installed arch. On both laptops I mostly just watched series, and often times I'd just leave the laptop with the media player still open.
Now to the issue: Randomly throughout the day, it would just start playing whatever I left open, usually after a few hours of being left alone. Now that I think about it, I think it was only crunchyroll. Does anyone experience anything similar, or might even have an idea as to how to fix this or what causes this? Is it just crunchyroll being buggy?

Bring existing KDE Konsole into focus instead of launching if one exists
I use KDE on arch and would like to achieve the following behavior:
Whatever way I launch Konsole, I want it to check whether there already is a Konsole instance. If one exists, it should be brought into focus, and if no instance exists, one should be launched.
I am unable to find such an option in the Konsole settings, even though I found a roughly 1 year old forum entry mentioning such a setting. Was it removed or am I just blind? Or do I need some optional dependency?
Alternatively, it would be fine if this could simply kick in when I use my Super+K shortcut, which I've set up. Maybe there's a way to call Konsole from the terminal like that? I tried using konsole --force-reuse but it didn't seem to do the trick, and konsole --new-tab does not bring Konsole into the foreground.

Drop ENTR media keys on linux
I recently bought a Drop ENTR, and I would like to use the media keys. On the drop.com website it says that using FN + the F-keys should work, but “Fn hotkeys may work with Windows operating system only.”. Well, for me it doesn’t work. Any ideas as to why that could be, or how I could go about creating a workaround?

Heroic Games Launcher not finding other drives (solved)
I have 2 relevant drives. The system drive, and a drive with my game files. The drive with the game files is mounted. However, it is not displayed under "Other devices" and I am unable to select it from /dev/
Installed it using yay from AUR (aur/heroic-games-launcher-bin 2.14.1-1).
Any ideas as to what may be causing this, or how to go about troubleshooting?

I've been living here for a few years now but haven't yet found anyone who enjoys playing smash bros with me. I'm by no means an expert in the game but I am good enough that noone I met here so far was a real challenge. I would describe my skill level as advanced casual.

Checking dependencies for manual build and install of software
I am pretty new to linux so please excuse any foolish mistakes.
I am trying to manually install gpu-screen-recorder(GSR) to get rid of an annoying password prompt that I can't seem to disable in the flatpak version. I know there must be some way to do it because this prompt didn't show up on Pop!_OS, but maybe it's just not possible on Nobara KDE/Fedora. I noticed in the install.sh of GSR, that setcap cap_sys_admin+ep is called on the executable. So if you know any way of replicating something like that for flatpaks that is simpler than installing GSR manually, feel free to let me know.
I tried checking the dependencies listed, but was unable to figure out how to really make sure they are installed and accessible for GSR.
For example: I tried checking for libglvnd by running dnf list libglvnd. Sure enough, it returns

How do I get rid of excessive password prompts, with the least amount of lost security?
I understand they are important and are what makes linux relatively secure compared to windows.
However, when I boot my PC, I don't want to spend a whole minute to type my password into different promts that keep getting hidden behind other windows that are starting up. I am using Nobara KDE now, but previously when I was using Pop!_OS, none of these prompts showed up.
Currently I have 2 prompts after logging on. One for my keychain when discord autostarts, and one for flatpak when gpu-screen-recorder launches. Interestingly, discord works just fine, with auto logon, regardless of whether the keychain prompt gets canceled or filled with the password.
Any idea on how to get rid of them? I'd prefer if really only that startup prompt was gone, and it would still ask me for the password whenever it launches any other way.
YouTube not going fullscreen properly
I recently switched to Linux. First I tried Pop_OS, and am now on Nobara. On both systems I have this issue, that when I open a YouTube video in a new tab, and immediately start fullscreen, it doesn't properly do it.
As you probably know, YouTube videos start playing before the whole page has finished loading. There are some placeholders for the title and description etc, but the actual text is still loading despite the video already playing. If I enter fullscreen during this moment, the browser enters full screen mode, but not the video/website.
What I remember happening on windows is that when the page finished loading, the video would enter proper fullscreen mode. Now, on Linux, that doesn't seem to work and the website just gets displayed regularly with the browser now in fullscreen mode.
Any ideas on what could cause this or how to troubleshoot this?
