Keanu Nelson - Place Where I Go

Luritja artist Keanu Nelson traces the afterglow of Wilurarrakutu with a two-track 7”, cut from the same home-studio haze with producer Yuta Matsumura. The pair continue their singular weave of community-rooted storytelling and elemental electronics, shaped with the gear at hand.

Hints of YouTube hip-hop and emotionally charged piano ripple through ‘Place Where I Go’, a dubbed-out reflection on the daily realities of life in Papunya, Nelson’s desert home. ‘Kapi Ngalyananni’ finds Nelson singing in language, a mesmeric water song bridging the personal and ancestral, with elevating chords, clapsticks, and Matsumura’s parched melodica lines.

Out on vinyl/digital April 25, these remote dispatches carry a vital new voice from the heart of the desert, where tradition and sonic experimentation delicately converge.

This Machine Kills #401. Ruled by Bastards (ft. Quinn Slobodian)

Show notes

We are joined by yet another TMK favorite, Quinn Slobodian, who is author of Hayek's Bastards: Race, Gold, IQ, and the Capitalism of the Far Right. We discuss Quinn’s analysis of “new fusionism” or a mutant strain of neoliberalism that crystallized in the 1990s, which sought to ground and defend neoliberal policies through their own bastardization of biological sciences — cognitive, behavioral, evolutionary, genetic, and so on. They then used scientism to justify and propagate political ideas and economic models based on hardwired human nature and hierarchical differences between races, cultures, and intelligence. The fringes of the 1990s have now become the mainstream of the 2020s.

Ghost Stories For The End Of The World Episode #97 - These Dreams of Menwith Hill

Show notes

We’re setting the table for the year ahead in Ghost Stories, and to do so we’ll be following a number of threads that may or may not have much to do with each other. Key to this one is the UK’s relationship with the US, which we use to explore how unnerving it feels to be alive in the Hermit Kingdom in the last days, its mind blown out by redundant upper management and a deep state that no longer has any purpose. We mainline the DMT released from the dying spider’s brain, exploring Keir Starmer as the Last Man, dreams in the imperial core, surveillance, terrorism, the dregs of empire, classified US-UK programs like GHOSTHUNTER and APPARITION, temporal dislocation, and long-dead spree killers haunting the Yorkshire moors.

This Machine Kills 400. Well, Somebody Has to Do Something! (ft. Malcolm Harris)

SHOW NOTES

We have a big chat with Malcolm Harris about his new book — What’s Left: Three Paths Through the Planetary Crisis — which takes seriously the fact that “the whole total world is in crisis” and then seriously advances three different ways to understand, confront, and overcome these disastrous conditions. We walk through the pathways that Malcolm stakes out — marketcraft, public power, and communism — and use the bland discourse around Abundance as a foil for the far more incisive analysis he lays out in What’s Left.

UCLA prof uncovers annotated draft of DeschĂŞnes list (Cdn Gov list of suspected nazi war criminals who settled in country post war) which Gov has previously refused to release to public

Prominent Ukrainian-Canadian advocates have opposed the release of the DeschĂŞnes list, with some raising fears about personal safety. Last year, after declining to release it, the government expressed concern that publishing it could boost discredited Russian propaganda about Ukraine having Nazi ties.

The Sesame Street psyop continues (Smart cookies segment copaganda)

https://mlapinski.blogspot.com/2015/12/sesame-street-smart-cookies.html

SMART COOKIES will be a new recurring segment on Season 46 of SESAME STREET (the one premiering on HBO in January).

The segments star Cookie Monster as the rookie agent of a team of crime-fighting cookies called "Smart Cookies." His teammates include leader Chipowski, tech-guy Figby and clue-giver Miss Fortune. In each segment, Cookie Monster learns about self-control and regulation as the team thwarts the dastardly attacks of a villain known simply as "The Crumb."

ibex poop birds

Spearthrower made of antler showing a young ibex with an emerging turd on which two birds are perched, found around 1940 in the cave of Le Mas d'Azil, Ariege. The ibex figure is about 7 cm long, and dates to about 16000 BP.

This was one of the first examples of mass produced art. Fragments of up to ten examples of this design have been found, which means that scores or hundreds must have been manufactured originally. The joke must have been very popular amongst the people of the time!

Documents provided under freedom of information laws show the total cost of Operation Bourglinster, the AFP investigation into a boy known as Thomas Carrick, was $507,087

Victorian children’s court found that police encouraged Thomas in his fixation on Islamic State during an undercover operation after his parents sought help from the authorities.

17 April 2021, his parents went to a police station and asked for help because Thomas was watching Islamic State-related videos on his computer and had asked his mother to buy bomb-making ingredients such as sulphur and acetone.

Thomas, an NDIS recipient with an IQ of 71, was first reported to police by Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and then by his parents because of his fixation with Islamic State, which included him accessing extremist material online and making threats to other students.

Thomas was investigated and charged with two terror offences by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT), which c
