  • Except most modern cars have turbo and direct injections and are very sensitive to gas/diesel quality. Even your diesel car will break down on an aged diesel. If the tank is not full, it will have degraded in contact with air, and if it stayed too long, it may have absorbed too much humidity and will ruin your advanced diesel engine.

  • Really? Do you realize how many people we're talking about? This is where the idea that the human brain can't comprehend interactions with too many people.

"Multiple indepondant people" might be 5% of the people, some of them under the mob's effect (wouldn't engage alone).

Maybe we miss another point of view, but maybe we don't. This may be a screaming example of what you get as a representative of minorities getting a bit of attention.

  • No, initial reaction would probably be that "you're wrong", and the importer is trying to stiff him and/or is a Biden's supporter trying to make Trump look bad or some other shit. After some time, he might come around, but the principle of a cult is no matter what fact and evidence you provide, they will dismiss them and refuse to change their minds.

  • And that will come, but unfortunately not before he turned the country into a fascist state with no more balance of power. At that time, oligarchs will have their useful idiot removed and replaced by a real puppet that will be granted absolute power.

  • Nemesis Lockdown

We had played Nemesis before, this was our first shot at LD. 5 players, and we had a blast!

Some co-op move, some sketchy moves: a base self-destruction cancelled at the last minute, an assassination attempt that failed and miserably backfired, a well executed plan ruined by the contingency.

    It was epic and awesome!

Compared to the original Nemesis, since there is no destination and no engine status to check, the dynamic is a bit different: all players move around focused on their personal goals without raising so much suspicion. The light system adds a bit of tension and more opportunities to play tricks on the other players.

Definitely deserves the praises it received. I can't wait to play it again!

  • Statistics tell me there is a relation between healthcare and life expectation.

    https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/life-expectancy-vs-health-expenditure

Note the US is the outlier here: that's the only country in the world with significant spending and no universal healthcare system (only 10 countries in the world don't have one). And even with that, medical debt is still the first cause of bankrupcy.

If you slash medicaid, you go to the left of that chart, but you also go down. That's a political choice, really.

Fortunately, enough institutions were torn apart that soon the US will also be the exception for being unable to provide numbers for the years to come.

  • For the dishes: I don't know the details of the 2 systems, but is there no way to retrofit the Starlink dishes to use Eutelsat's constellation? I mean if we exclude the legal IP mess for reverse-engineering the electronics and software.

  • Summary: China is not a friend country. It's a hostile country. Yes, we know.

But the news is... so is the USA to Canada now. A hostile country threatening to annex Canada and trying to cripple the economy as a way to achieve the goal. So either we slap 100% tariffs on US made cars, which would hurt Canadians, or we apply the same tariffs on Chinese cars, so reduce them from where they are at the moment.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • Because that's not about privacy, that's about the trade war. Retaliatory tariffs on US cars increase cost of cars for Canadians, as there are almost no car assembled in Canada. Reducing or eliminating tariffs on cars from China would lower cost of new cars for Canadians while keeping the tariffs up.

For privacy and security, not a single new car on the market is decent right now. That should be regulated, but that's no concern for any politician at the moment.

    Match Madness only

So it's been a while now since the leaderboard's challenge is Match Madness every day except on Saturday, when it's the Ramp Up.

I don't know if it's just me but that's getting me pretty disengaged. I quickly hit my limit on the Match Madness, then it has no interest to me.

Previously, I would use these challenges on a daily basis, as a way to review past lessons. Damned, I would use them over and over to score high in the leaderboard too.

Now I've completely lost interest in the leaderboard, but worse: I'm wondering if I'm moving back by lack of practice on past lessons vocabulary and grammar.

I don't feel like going through some past lessons and pick some randomly. How do you make sure you do pick randomly?

Am I the only one who thinks that "all Match Madness" thing is a regression?
