Not always the show would be boring if that was the answer every time.
Agreed it's was a great horrible concert that didn't have any pay off. It's like he got to the end and was like let's just kill everyone to end it.
The trick my mom told me she's did was she's swapped it out the moment she tucked me in. But she was also smart to put it in the pillow not under it as she said the tooth could fall down and I wouldn't get any money.
I mean their commander and chief is going to sell/leak them anyway.
Yeah good news for his boss Putin the rest of the world not so much.
Honestly it should not be that big of a deal just tell the story you need to tell with the resources you have. But for all i know the lore nerds will want some storyline that explains why Organa looks different. Like how's we got the stupid storyline of why TOS Klingon's have smooth heads and look human.
I mean if you enjoy it i would never shit on your parade i just go to plays and musicals on the regular and I have noticed originals shows not based on an IP shrink smaller and smaller on the season. I think last year it was all but 3 out of 10 Hadestown , shucked, and come from away and 2 of those 3 are repeats from years prior.
Because princess bride is perfectly fine as a film and that effort and money could be put into creating new stories instead of recycling known IP.
I wonder if that's like American football players started wearing helmets so they hit harder. So the one time they are not wearing the noodles they are going to wreck another goat or themselves.
Agreed the only one that I disagree with is star wars since we can't see the original. I have the belief that it's isn't just yours when you put art out there. You may own the copyright but you can't tell me the version i enjoyed is wrong. But other than that I agree. New trek can never take away old trek. But a HD remaster of DS9 would be appreciated.
Yeah i remember a interview with Terry Matalas about star trek picard season 3. Where when he talked about writing the season he was all about not going on about the story beats but however to weave the story from one legacy thing to the next.
Yeah too busy on building lore to tell a good story. It's like all writers these days are from the fanfic community.
The wizard of oz did have s sequel gave tons of children nightmares. Yeah if they were all good then no one would noticed. Also I think with the wizard of oz as an example it being a remake is okay becase it's trying to be it's own thing not sending half the movie trying to get me to point at the screen or making the movie just for the YouTubers making top 10 Easter Eggs that were big enough to roll over indy and you totally didn't miss.
Yeah i love that idea and hell of they want to show that new movie to the next generation just reshow it in theaters like the Drafthouse does. No need to make a special edition or whatever just shows it as is with current theater tech.
Yeah i agree its not perfect but its better than anything I found so far.
Cool yeah also note it's not like a once a day thing. You could be out and about at the grocery store. The idea is to remind yourself like set an alarm if you have to. To just pause for a moment the idea is you are trying to take in the sights , sounds, and feelings in that moment and store therm in long term memory. Internal narration helps draw a more vivid picture for long term storage. That way the year does not fly by. When you go from task to task.
It's interesting you bring that up i think the star trek instance are one of the fewer instances that get federation right. They carved out their niche and stuck to it. I kind of wished we would have gotten more of them like that.
Like the comics instance or the retro tech instance. Like you would go to the retro tech instance to the C64 community. So it would be logical how everything is broken out. Like old school forms for different subjects but they can also blend by talking to one another.
So many just want to be generic catch all's and it could be so much more.
This year is the year of the Linux desktop because every year is the year of the Linux desktop. It just gets better and better all the time. It's only companies that need fast exponential growth we can play the long game.
I could not agree more like the early web before it became popular enough for corporations to take notice and start exploiting it. Cherish being under the radar and enjoy the community that's already here. More will come when they are ready just be ready to welcome them when they do.
If you are looking for early internet check out gemini and the tildeverse. I have found really interesting people on there. It's nice to go to their capsules and read their stories or poems. With zero fear of them click baiting or bullshiting to create engagement. As there is zero ability to monetize that traffic.

Healthcare workers should have combat like ribbons like the military has. Like first responders got during 9/11.
Like there be one for Covid then another one for ebola. Generic ribbons for each mass shooting.
I know it's dark but they need to be recognized. In the Army we would joke our ribbons were our PTSD listed out our chest. Figured it's the same for them.

Does anyone remember a movie title about a a secret group of people that pause time and rebuild the world.
Like they construct the world for each day? Like you see them putting up mailboxes and painting the roads.

If we have Black Friday after Thanksgiving where everything goes on sale. Does that mean April 5 is Orange Saturday where everything gets more expensive.

With all the CGI/AI corpse puppeting that keeps happening. At some point someone is going to remake Triumph of the Will with an all star cast of recently deceased movie stars.
If someone is dead they should stay dead this is how art dies. It's easier to keep recycling the same time shit over and over. I want to see what the new generation brings to the table.

The Trees don't stop growing just because there is fire on the horizon.
When having one of my bad days I think of that quote. It's was a random statement in a comicbook of all things. If you check my post history I would be considered a doomer about the climate only but I'm trying to not be.

If I ate nothing Total brand cereal as directed for all my nutrition with whole milk. How long could I survive?
I know i would go crazy eating the same bland flakes

The importance of Names and how people on average don't really think about what the name is telling you.
I was just thinking about the word social media as a term answer how it relates to regular media.
Like what is regular media? it's someone that is paid to entertain you for money or influence you for people that pay them for power.
Now the word social media if it relates to old media what would it be at face value. It's a person that is paid to make you feel like you have a social connection with them for money influence you for people that pay them that want power.
Like what was social connections on the internet before the rise of social media.
It was forums and if we look at that word what is it as face value from the word itself its meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
Ideas to be exchanged everyone was equal there was no media personalities no popularity contests. No followers just a group of people sharing ideas around a common interest.
How off base am I? did I miss anything in my reasoning here?

With all this ghostty talk. Am I out of touch for still using terminator all these years?
Like the question above am I just an old man that's not keeping up with the times or is terminator still a great terminal to use in 2025?

What are some of your best memories from services like heat.net or MPlayer or dedicated servers in general?
My favorite was a time my best friend and I were on the second phone line talking and took on 15 to 2 in quake 2 CTF and won.

Is there a community on lemmy to vent or confess?
Im looking for the internet equivalent of screaming into the void when stress gets to great and you are about to pop.

Sending intranet Email on a token ring network still used the same process as creating a Memo
Please correct me if I'm wrong, might have breathed in too many soap fumes.
Token Ring sends the packets to every node by passing it from one node and if that node is not the recipient it passes it on to the next node.
Memos were created the day before with a list of recipients then it was passed around till everyone on the list had read it.

two things I came away with after watching DS9 - Past Tense today.
- Never realize it takes place over labor day weekend until today. It hits even harder knowing that.
- It kind of makes me sad not knowing how the original Bell got acess to the Net without jadzia's help. That makes me think he couldn't and It was a predestination paradox and the implication is humanity couldn't put us on a path to the world of star trek on our own and we needing star fleet to push the scales. Explains a lot for our timeline.
- 1995 Me: Getting the voices on the Net would fix things for sure. 2024 Me: There would be a misinformation campaign to drown out those voices and used by grifters to make a quick buck off the cause. Most would just swipe to the next youtube short/reelz/TikTok video.
Yeah i made myself sad

how does everyone feel about unicomp's?

modern model M's do they live up to the hype?
