  • I barely use Amazon, it's just 90% AliExpress stock at huge markup anyway, plus more importantly they're evil. I do seem to have prime though, which I use to order something maybe every other month when it's urgent for work. Thing is I'm not signed up for prime, it just activated when I linked an audible account to my business account years ago. I do use audible, to the limit of the credits anyway. So I've been kinda torn for ages and can't bring myself to cancel as my old audible subscription seems to be giving me prime somehow for much less than prime is to sign up.

I just convince myself I'm playing the system...

  • I was on emby some time ago and got sick of user issues, I tried jellyfin before that but it was worse. Very interested to know how both compare to Plex now (since maybe 4ish years ago) as I'd be very open to switching back.

I think I'd avoid emby though as I found the developer to be an annoying weirdo at times when trying to communicate.

  • Because that's really just to be expected at this point, and what his audience would want..

Better to focus on constantly poking at him for being dumb, which he and his fans hate, rather than give them what they want, ie being upset at their hateful language

  • I'd say it was TV that gave you the PTSD. I bailed on TV at about 8 years old (28 years ago..) and every time I've been with people watching it since I was always amazed just how awful it all really was. But I guess it's just what becomes normal if you grow up with it

  • I think they've done them a favour in a way. If this was day one then it might hurt them but they're past the point of like 90% of their sales I bet, and now pegi looking like incompetent dinosaurs is just a free second wave of social media exposure

  • I'm about to be installing my 3rd usb c on my fairphone because using my earphones all day phone in pocket kills the port. I've used devices like this mostly daily since mini discs came out, only ever broken one 3.5mm in that time.

If I didn't have a fairphone I'd have to go back to wireless iem over crappy Bluetooth that last about 12-18 months.

  • Coming to Lemmy means losing some of the really well supported niche communities from Reddit of old and that was the biggest hit of leaving, but the site being such cancer now I wonder how well they are doing anyway.

Lemmy, once you've blocked 90% of the weird tankies, really does feel like Reddit from 10+ years ago in the comments. It's just a shame due to its current small size how single minded the general feed often feels. Hopefully that improves

  • As someone who always goes s&v I actually agree, however I have a couple s&v brands I really like, and have only been disappointed by prawn cocktail over the last decade. It used to be the best, but most crisp flavours have been getting more mild and losing their character and I think prawn cocktail has suffered this the most.

  • You're not even paying for cheats in a ubisoft game, you're just buying back the time they added in with pointless grind so you can play through the short storyline without having to run fetch quests for an extra 50 hours to pass through the level gates.
