Find me easier to access niche communities and I'll be gone from reddit. I hoped Lemmy would blow up. Instead, reddit just shrank.

Yep, same problem Lemmy has vs reddit. Only the nerdiest tech nerds got on here. Not many communities from reddit or just in general here. For example, I had to go back to reddit for a good sized general anime community. It's that or fucking 4chan, and no thanks on the latter.
To me, Lemmy feels very much a giant technology board with a few memes.
But I will say, the past few days, Bluesky has gotten a lot more interesting.

In a way, it is...

Whatever. I can talk about whatever I want.

I wish they'd bring back Orange Vanilla! Importing the Bleach themed coke that was orange vanilla from Japan was expensive and didn't last long.

I prefer to chew my calories, thanks.

It's delicious and I am totally addicted to it

Fun fact: I used to work as a fraud analyst for aajor telecom company. British Indian Ocean territory islands were extremely high fraud destinations for telecom fraud. I always assumed the people there were basically making ends meet through fraud. (Usually hacking corporate PBX systems and directing phone traffic to premium rate service lines there) But I think it's more likely that the phone companies there aren't so much committing the fraud, but facilitate it with their PRS lines where they surely keep some of the revenue generated.

Have you? The monster designs, some of them are straight up copycats and pallette swaps and such. Others are basically that "ok copy my homework, but don't make it identical so we don't get in trouble.". It is absolutely pushing the limits. To say you do not see that is willful. It has to be.
So much love

That's who I am!

Absolutely. I'm looking at getting Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince soon. I doubt anyone calls it a Pokemon copycat, too.

Several for sure. Back in my 20's at parties and punk shows. Nazi punks fuck off!!

Absolutely. I don't get how someone can say stealing the work of others is morally correct.

It's a gift.

If you can't see how blatant it is, I don't know what to tell you. You can be all "it's just SIMILAR wink wink" all you want. Similar is a fucking understatement.

Of course. For the culture! Lol

Animaniacs
Gargoyles
Doctor Who (Classic)

Oh HELL naw

I'm gen x and wish I was not cut.

It's fucking barbaric. There are regions where it is considered tradition and the governments have a very hard uphill battle against generations of normalization and traditional culture. It really is just so very awful. I'm a cut male and I hate it. The skin is far too tight feeling when erect, but that is really not anywhere near the female version. I can't imagine how awful it is for women.

Images load for half a second, then turn into a white "broken image" icon
As the title says, some images load for half a second, then turn into a white "broken image" icon. If you then tell connect to "open external" it opens the image in a web browser, and that works just fine.
It's just the weirdest thing. The image loads, you see it for a split second before it changes. This happens frequently enough to be annoying. I'm not sure if it's just a certain file type or what. Maybe it's webp's?
Here's an example post that is doing it for me: https://lemmy.zip/post/8235310

How will we ever get away from plastics when they are ubiquitous for safety
Plastic seals food, sterile medical implements, medicine, beverages, etc... it's seems like plastic is used as a way to seal things safely. Post pandemic rising, I see even more. My work used to be have plastic utensils in the cafeteria, for example, an already wasteful thing. Now, post-2020, every fork, knife, and spoon is individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper. I feel like the more my desire to escape plastic intensifies, the more plastic I see all around me everywhere.
How can we get away from plastic as a safety layer?

People who back into parking spots: Why?
To me, it seems objectively easier to pull into a parking space forward and then back out of the space when you are ready to leave. You don't have to line up with the lines while driving backwards, and it's easier to keep from hitting other cars as well. So why back in? To me, the only advantage I can think of is that you can get out quicker, technically.
Edit: I do not need driving instruction, just wondered why. The reasoning.
Watching Bleach and thought of this scenario
Ichigo: chases Ulquiorra upwards and past the blue sky
Ichigo: Wait, are we above the canopy of Los Noches?
Ulquiorra: Yes, by Lord Aizen's command, two things are not allowed within Los Noches. The first is Gran Rey Cero which is only for Espada. The other is a sword release of an Espada of rank 4 or higher, both of which could destroy Los Noches.
Ulquiorra: Releases Resurreccion Imprison Murcielago!
Ichigo: Nope. Cuts hole in floor, drops back into Los Noches
Ulquiorra: What! What are you doing!?
Ichigo: Tauinting and slapping his ass Come on, chicken! Bauk bauk bauk come on!

Yo are fireworks that fun?
It's almost 2 am and I'm in bed and I still keep hearing pop pop boom outside. Is it that fun? Seriously. Also, what's a better sub for this kind of post? Inb4 mastodon.

Sorting old pony image folder and finding places I loved on reddit in lemmy land. It's good to see 196!
