  • I'm intrigued...do you mind giving more info, like exactly what does it help with (brain fog, rage, anxiety, forgetfulness, night sweats, digestive issues)? Because I have all of the above!

  • Here are some of mine:

Jenna Phipps: she's got a lot of creative content, currently focusing on completely rebuilding an abandoned home, but her older content features lots of crochet and sewing (plus her two cute dogs!). I like her for her positive attitude and silly/goofy personality.

Jordan Theresa: she does long-form video essays about pop culture through a feminist lens. I love how she deconstructs issues; she's got a lot of thought-provoking takes. Her editing style can sometimes be a bit too frenetic for my taste, but I might be a bit older than her target audience.

Kidology: another feminist video essayist. She covers similar topics to Jordan Theresa, but with a way less bubbly presentation. She also shares a lot of interesting thoughts about her experiences as an interracial adoptee, and the difficulty in fitting into a culture different to your own.

State of Kait: she does mostly beauty and pop culture commentary videos (which to be fair, I skip a lot of the ones about celebrities), but has started pivoting into analysis of influencer trends and how these can affect viewers. She also talks about being neurodivergent and having a chronic illness, which I find interesting.

Fitness KayKay: great workouts and a positive attitude!

The Fairy Voice Mother: she's a vocal coach who analyzes live vocal performances, talking about technique and music theory. Plus she's super charming!

Angelica Nyqvist: she's a former makeup artist who creates really colorful makeup looks, and shares what new makeup products are coming out. I'm mostly interested in her videos with indie makeup. She gives me a lot of great ideas to try with my own makeup!

    Interesting YouTube channels

What women-led YouTube channels do you all like? Share them below!

  • I do agree that getting men on board is key to ending the patriarchy, but to be honest it really annoys me that we have to make them see how the patriarchy harms them before they'll give a shit about how it harms us. Society will always cater to men in this way. But we'll never improve how women are treated without the help and support of men.

  • Oh man. For TV characters there are a bunch. Xena, Buffy, Kira Nerys...I love strong women. And Donna Noble - strong in a different way, likeable and annoying and relatable. Dana Scully for being smart and skeptical.

For real people, I guess I think Marie Curie was pretty badass. Physicist, chemist, female scientist in a time when women were pretty much never taken seriously. Her research into radioactivity revolutionized so much of science and medicine and she did it in the face of soooo much misogyny and xenophobia. She seems like such an interesting woman.

    Any advice about starting tretinoin?

Hey friends. I've recently realized that what I thought were freckles is actually melasma, and my dermatologist has prescribed me tretinoin for it. I have very pale skin, generally normal in the winter and a little oilier in the T-zone during the summer, but it can dry out really badly with things like AHA. From what I've heard, tret is pretty drying. My dermatologist recommended that I start with applying it only two nights a week, and using a pea-sized amount mixed into my moisturizer. I use the Tatcha Water Cream moisturizer, which is pretty light and has been great for me, but with tret I'm wondering if I'll need a heavier moisturizer. I'm also worried that my usual double-cleansing will worsen the dryness from tret. I double-cleanse with an oil balm to remove my mineral sunblock, then with the Tatcha Rice Wash to get rid of the sunblock & oil balm residue. But I'm thinking the rice wash might be irritating because it's got a (mild) physical exfoliant, so maybe I need to find somet

Help me pick out St Paddy's Day nail polish!

Ladies, help me choose nail polish for a St Paddy's Day fest this weekend! I will be wearing all the tacky plastic shamrock shit the grocery store will sell me (plus green eyeshadow). Here are the contenders (from left to right):

    ILNP - Reminisce
    ILNP - 1UP
    Cirque Colors - High Society
Cirque Colors - Mood Ring (magnetic)
    Cirque Colors - Ethel
Orly - It's Not Rocket Science
    Sinful Colors - Calypso

Which one should I go with?

    Are gifs broken?

Since the last release, I find that gifs won't play in Jerboa anymore. For example, this comment just appears as a static image for me, even when I click on it. Do you see the same behavior?

Edit: solved by user merde alors:

did you enable "auto play GIFs" in settings>look&feel ?

Then close and reopen the app and that should fix it.

Update on my favorite lady 💚

A few weeks ago I posted that my greyhound Greta was in the hospital, and so many of you left such nice comments and well wishes - thank you! She's been back home for a couple weeks now and is doing great.

Here she is with her latest bandage (featuring a G💚 decoration because my vet's office is the best!):

Decrease swipe sensitivity, and add vote coloration?

Jerboa devs, thank you so much for the latest updates - I'm really digging the swipe-to-vote functionality! I do find that it's a little too sensitive and registers votes when I'm simply trying to scroll up or down in my feed or a comments section. I guess I don't always scroll in a perfectly vertical path. Would it be possible to decrease the sensitivity for the swipe-to-vote - maybe requiring a greater deviation from the vertical before a vote registers?

Another really helpful feature would be to add vote indicators to the right of comments - the entire rightmost edge of the comment could have a color matching the vote I gave it, or no color if I haven't voted. Often if I'm reading a long comment I upvote it halfway through, then by the end of the comment I can't remember if I've voted so I have to either long-press or scroll back up to find out. Color indicators in the margin would be helpful!

    My favorite lady

My little old lady is in the doggo hospital right now (she will be fine) and I miss her and her sweet lil pointy face.

Please share pics of your dogs to cheer me up, especially if there are any grey owners here!

Help me get glass skin in my forties!

I've always had pretty nice, low-maintenance skin but now that I'm in my forties I find it needs extra attention. One thing I'd really like to improve is getting the glassy look. It seems like most women who achieve this are pretty young and/or on tret. I don't want to try tret because I'm very pale and already sun-sensitive. (At this point I've lost count of how many atypical things my dermatologist has lopped off, despite religiously using mineral sunscreen!)

My current skincare routine is here. It's definitely made a difference for me but I'm looking to refine it.

What can I tweak to get glass skin? Or is it even possible at my age without tret?
