  • Quboz lets you buy your music though?

  • I'm equally upset at Canadian companies selling items that are not made in Canada, under a guise that it's "all Canadian".

Example: I want a folding coffee table. Found a Canadian company in Windsor, Ontario. Looks legit... Looking closer, the tables are made in Poland...

There DO exist companies that are through and through Canadian... too many are masking it though. It's understandable for some things but it's nuts for stuff like furniture, like above (QC has a lovely woodworking furniture industry)

  • Unrelated but during 2022 COVID times I was accosted by someone while in a supermarket, simply for performing the act of touching several bananas and not buying them (checking for brown spots).

They said "Why do you touch all the bananas with your bare hands!!"

I replied back as they walked away "Do you eat the peel as well as the fruit???"

  • that puritanical shit lmao who said anything about this being religious? I don't follow anything.

It's called "being queer & careful with your partner; getting STI tests, getting to know each other, adjusting to each other's rhythm"

    sheesh...

  • Yall weird as hell. Ever heard of taking it slow?

  • What a weird thing to focus on, are you planning to go visit your VPS in person?

GoCode is the parent company, and you can see they offer colo in an Equinox datacenter. I imagine this might be a one person contracting team that uses a PO Box for home address privacy (as I do myself for my business purposes)

  • They run a Tier 2 networking service, including peering with a lot of big exchanges. They'll be around for a while... And have been so far...

Hetzner does the same shit for ID verification/provisioning, it's all related to anti spam and anti malicious use.

I host at home but use Xenyth as a reverse proxy, that's honestly what many people who are comfortable to run their own server should do; protect your home IP.

  • If you're fine to either get your hands dirty, or a kind friend's, check out Xenyth Hosting

    You're a magnet thrower :3

oooooooo ur a magnet lover you love your stainless steel fridge oooooo

  • I'll continue to fight drivers on the road with my life, I deserve space to bike without being harassed. Helmet cams help a LOT.

  • Would love real wood if I wasn't so deathly afraid of bedbugs. The risk is too high, especially with used wood furniture having all sorts of small nooks and holes maybe even in areas that can't be seen.

It is sadly also more convenient for me to order IKEA stuff delivered than doing a carshare ride out to it (the Montreal one is so far and way out of the way from downtown / west core)

  • I absolutely loved Rhodes and am so so so eager to return. Would love to visit Lesbos and Milos too.

but yes agree on Santorini, and Mykonos, both lovely but very over toured.

Potential strike coming from Canadian postal workers.

Today, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced it has received a strike mandate following a vote from its members. This means that they will have the legal right to strike starting November 3, if a minimum 72-hour notice has been provided.

On September 25, Canada Post presented proposals to protect and enhance what’s important to employees, within the Corporation’s financial constraints, while making the changes that are necessary to better serve Canadians and Canadian businesses in today’s demanding parcel delivery market.

CUPW presented counter-offers to Canada Post on October 7, and the two sides continue to negotiate. The company remains committed to proceeding with urgency and finding the common ground necessary to reach agreements.

  • I react badly to Canadian milk after it’s been ultra-pasturized but I’m not lactose intolerant.

Dawg I think you might be lactose intolerant.

yknow soy, almond, oat, etc non-milk beverages are seriously a great alternative with all needed nutrients...

  • I bought a new cassette, chain and derailleur for my main bike; it's probably 20-30 years old in it's frame and has some signs of wear, but those parts are probably the most I've "invested" in keeping it running well. Compare to a car with new belts, filters, etc. It's crazy our cities are not designed more densely.

Canada Post proposes new postage rates for 2025

Sampling of text from www.canadapost-postescanada.ca news release

Canada Post proposes new postage rates for 2025. Price of a domestic stamp would rise 25 cents in move to better align with rising cost of providing the service

While rate increases are necessary, Canada Post understands that they mean additional costs for customers, and the Corporation works to minimize the impact. For the average Canadian household, the rate increase is estimated to have an impact of $2.26 per year. For the average Canadian small business, the estimated impact is $42.17 per year.1 Permanent™ stamps will always be accepted at the current domestic postage price.

    Further details

For a domestic letter (30 grams or less), the price of a single stamp would increase from $1.15 to $1.44. When purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, th

New stamp set celebrates the cultural impact of MuchMusic and MusiquePlus

    From canadapost-postescanada.ca:

TORONTO – Canada Post is excited to unveil our latest stamp set celebrating the early years of MuchMusic and MusiquePlus. The groundbreaking, often interactive television stations revolutionized the way we listen to music – fans could finally SEE the stars in action in a new format: the music video.

Launched in August 1984 and broadcast from Toronto, MuchMusic was one of Canada’s first specialty cable channels, quickly reaching five million households only a few short years later. MusiquePlus began broadcasting out of Montréal in 1986, and quickly emerged as the top platform for homegrown Francophone artists to strut their stuff alongside other big names.

Through engaging programming, MuchMusic and MusiquePlus almost instantly became the gigs everybody had to pl

How do I contact the mods of a Lemmy community directly, all at the same time?

I am thinking more relating to how on Reddit you can "message the mods"; is there any function like this on Lemmy, or do I have to message mods individually?

  • The great thing about bikes is that there's just... a shitload out there, especially vintage repairable units. And LOTS of vintage frames and parts that are often tossed to the road as trash, just cleanly available to take. It does of course require one to have the drive to do the repairs yourself, but that is another thing; thank goodness DIY bike repair shops exist.

Regarding the community icon and header...

Because this community may contain content that Canada Post would not really feel fondly of, per their imagery use guidelines:

The logo may never be used in association with anything or in any way that would disparage or otherwise reflect negatively on Canada Post, its products or services, or its directors, officers or employees.

I therefore just made quick icon and header images using clip art...
