  • I don't care, I post when I have something to say.

  • I also still look fondly back on Objective-C

  • They already said they will make mistakes, what more do you want? /s

  • Thanks for sharing the links, most of the pictures are outstanding and fit very well in the series, following the same style and telling so many stories.

I see also the pictures are from 2019, have you been involved in similar projects since then?

Btw. the links to your website on the edgeofhumanity website don't work.

  • Interesting, April 20 is also Hitlers birthday so it has symbolic significance to all the neo nazis.

  • But don't all other servers host copies of it? So if a server is hosted in Turkey then they could tell that server to block access to that content a least from Turkey or not?

  • Thanks for posting this clarification. This way it makes total sense. After 3 days even if I forgot to save something I probably don`t remember about it.

  • Perhaps PiewdiePie's attempt to learn it will shed a light on it for you: https://youtu.be/GPLImB-I71w

  • So your point is that because China does it it's ok for others also to do it? Or is your point that as long as you don't have a perfect track record you're not allowed to speak up when others misbehave? What are you trying to say?

  • Because coreboot is the only way for us to be in full control of the hardware. Any other way there is microcode which is closed source and we have no idea what it is doing. It has full control to everything.

  • What do you plan to do on that graphics card? Is that 20GB VRAM? That sounds nice, but not being a NVIDIA it lacks at least the CUDA cores which are necessary for many AI use cases which I have.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • Two things can be true at the same time.

  • Just Personalausweis, it's an ID card. Not everyone has a drivers license, especially in bigger cities many people don't have any.

  • I'm not American, I'm a German living in South Korea, married to a Chinese Korean.

  • I'm also confused how you get to this conclusion after reading your link

  • Why are we allowing myssogynistic posts like this one here again?

  • Only in the US. In Germany we can drink at 16 but drive at 18.

  • Remove the skin, boil it in saltwater, mash it, put in some butter and milk, mash it more to a smooth paste, bam!

Korean won falls to 16-year low as Trump tariffs go into effect

Korean currency weakens 10.9 won to 1,484.1 won per dollar, KOSPI drops 1.7%

The Korean currency weakened to the lowest level in more than 16 years against the U.S. dollar, Wednesday, as Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs take effects.

The won closed at 1,484.1 won per dollar on the daytime trading market, depreciating by 10.9 won from the previous day’s close. It was the lowest level since March 12, 2009, during the global financial crisis.

The won’s depreciation was largely attributable to a 25 percent tariff against Korea-manufactured goods, market analysts said.

Less than 1% of foreign residents use mobile ID cards two months after launch

I'm not sure what they expected, not everyone runs and gets a new ARC just because of that immediately.

By chance I got a new ARC about a month ago and I got one which supports the mobile ID, but when I started looking into it how to set it up I couldn't find a straight forward description, especially not in English. This is why I still don't have it even though I was low key excited about that possibility.

The ruling came 111 days after the National Assembly passed the impeachment motion, accusing Yoon of treason for declaring martial law on Dec. 3, which was deemed a violation of constitutional rights.

South Korean EV manufacturers gain traction as Chinese rivals face tariffs.

New US and European tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) have created market opportunities for South Korean manufacturers. While South Korean EV exports remain behind Chinese volumes, manufacturers can gain market share by emphasising design, performance, safety and transparency. As such, the US Inflation Reduction Act benefits South Korean producers, though political uncertainty poses risks. Success depends on leveraging technological expertise while adapting to policy shifts.

China, Japan, South Korea will jointly respond to US tariffs, Chinese state media says

BEIJING, March 31 (Reuters) - China, Japan and South Korea agreed to jointly respond to U.S. tariffs, a social media account affiliated with Chinese state media said on Monday, an assertion Seoul called "somewhat exaggerated", while Tokyo said there was no such discussion.
The state media comments came after the three countries held their first economic dialogue in five years on Sunday, seeking to facilitate regional trade as the Asian export powers brace against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

China, Japan and South Korea to strengthen free trade

    Summary

China, Japan, and South Korea held their first trade talks in 5 years in Seoul, agreeing to deepen cooperation amid looming U.S. tariffs announced by Donald Trump.

With a 25% tariff on car imports threatening their export-heavy economies, the three nations pledged to advance negotiations on a trilateral free trade agreement and strengthen the RCEP.

South Korea’s trade minister emphasized joint action against global economic fragmentation.

The meeting marks a renewed push for regional trade unity as tensions with the U.S. grow. The next meeting will be held in Japan.

    Market in Moran (South Korea)

Today we went to Moran where they have a traditional market every 5 days. There is kind of a food court with a lot of tents where it's ok warm during the winter and we ate there some pig skin and lung and then also a clam soup with noodles and a fried pancake.

Banks expand services for foreign residents in Korea as their population grows

Beyond merely supporting financial transactions for foreign workers, banks are expanding their offerings by introducing platforms to help foreign nationals better settle in Korea and launching services tailored to wealthy foreign individuals and corporations.

JB Financial Group, which owns Kwangju Bank and Jeonbuk Bank, will become the first domestic financial company to launch a comprehensive financial and social integration platform for foreign nationals in April.

Through this platform, tentatively named Bravo Korea, foreign customers will be able to access financial services such as deposit, installment savings and loan applications, as well as a wide range of essential everyday information, including visa-related services, Korean language education, house searches and job listings.

Korean firms prepare to resume business in Russia amid truce talks

If the two countries reach a complete truce or peace agreement, sanctions on Russia will likely be lifted, allowing Korean firms to resume business there.

With a population of over 140 million, Russia is a significant market with a strong preference for Korean products and serves as a strategic hub connecting Central Asia and Europe. According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bilateral trade between Korea and Russia reached $29.9 billion in 2021, with Russia ranking as Korea’s 12th-largest export market at the time.

    • Firefighters are racing to save people and ancient artefacts from the largest wildfires in South Korea's history, which have killed at least 27 people so far
    • Tens of thousands have also been displaced in the blazes, which started in the south-east on 21 March
    • Most of those killed were in their 60s and 70s, local officials say
    • Eyewitnesses described apocalyptic scenes as fires engulfed their homes, with one man telling the BBC the damage in his city has been "devastating"
    • Authorities believe human activities started multiple fires, but strong winds and dry land allowed them to spread quickly
    • The winds also make it dangerous for helicopters to operate - one crashed while fighting the fires on Tuesday
    • The fires have gutted a 1,300-year-old temple in Uiseong city and are threatening other cultural sites
