I'm out of the loop. What happened?
What a precious little floof!
Yes however today there aren't tools available anymore that hitler had to make this happen. Our constitution is now far better protected and isn't as easily dismantled as the Weimar republic's constitution. Still sucks that so many people voted for afd though
Idk death and dementia don't seem like a feasible solution to me
Although I don't live with them, the topic comes up every time I am on the phone with my father. He keeps yapping and yapping about how great the motherland is, until I snap. It seems it's all he ever wants to talk about - Putin this, Ukraine that.
Thank you for your advice, I'll try setting up some boundaries next time he calls.
Disappointed and upset is exactly how I feel! Thank you for your input.
Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately though, I don't live with my parents anymore. They seem to consume information mostly through telegram, news articles and Russian television. I wouldn't know how to shield them from those influences, I don't have access to all their accounts or devices.

Ironically, my mom's husband is from Odessa, Ukraine, yet he still sides with Russia. They're small business owners and would likely profit from AFDs tax reforms. Their clients are also mostly "Russland-deutsche" and apparently most of them are also AFD voters. No wonder they were influenced towards this direction. Hard to tell if they have spoken to Ukrainian refugees, doesn't seem too unlikely given their clientele.
I think your tip with money is right on the nose. I would also describe my family as opportunistic, now that you mention it, it sounds like a fairly accurate description.
They don't seem fearful at all to me. My father for one thing believes Russia is the land of the free, where the government protects its citizens from evil NATO. I asked him what he thought about all those opposition journalists who disappeared or got jailed, or what about the laws forbidding to criticize the government on social media. His response was "nobody got jailed! It's all fake news! My colleague criticizes Putin all the time and nothing happened to him! It's those foreign agents and business crooks who got jailed, and rightfully so!"
It's very frustrating, I feel you bro.
Do you happen to have any resources on how to counter pro afd/ pro Putin arguments? I remember seeing a YouTube channel debunking Putins propaganda in Russian, but I don't know what they were called.

How would you deal with right wing parents?
For some context, we are first generation immigrants. My parents are Russian, my mother and her husband have been living here for 20 years (even got rid of Russian citizenship couple years ago), my biological father is still living in Russia.
It's damn exhausting to discuss political topics with them, especially my father. He keeps telling me how great it is to live in Russia, how their economy is doing great and how he's proud that they are defending their "brothers" in Donezk and Luhansk from the evil bandera regime in Ukraine.
My mom voted far right in the past election. She doesn't believe she voted for nazis, but the party's views on economics, climate policy and immigration seem to align with hers. She believes wind farms are harmful for the environment. What the actual fuck.
Whenever I try to argue with them, they tell me that I've been brainwashed by "Western propaganda".
I'm at a loss. I love my parents and I know that nobody's immune to propaganda, but it's heartbreaking
Love the footsie! 😍
I call it despair
What a beautiful cat!
Well he started off as an underdog, and people like to cheer for someone who has the odds against them. At first he didn't have a lot of skill, the only thing he had going for him was his massive supply of chakra thanks to the kyuubi. But he wasn't good at controlling it and wasn't a good learner. Then he had his rivalry with Sasuke that made him train harder and push himself to new limits. Him defeating the odds was satisfying to watch.
His positive attitude to never give up and never go back on his word, to support his friends no matter what, to succeed against a much stronger enemy, those are admirable traits. Slowly he turns the odds in his favor, and he's always fighting side by side with his comrades. He becomes stronger and stronger until he is no longer considered "talentless" by his peers. Eventually he is the most op character in his universe. Although he did have the "chosen one" privileges, we watched him grow and train to achieve his goal, which made him likable.
Well how else are you gonna visualize those things for the audience. Same with green smell clouds coming off of something or someone who smells bad. It's difficult to make the audience understand and care about something invisible
I'm afraid the shadow of your cactus has melted
That's a template for a goose though.
I finally started working out again! I also work from home and my Job made me miserable, but I'll be starting a new Job in November and that gave me hope and motivation to pull myself out of the depression hole.

Which Yakuza/Like a dragon games are a must play?
I've already completed Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami, am currently about 15 hours into Kiwami 2.
I fell in love with the franchise after playing Yakuza 0 and initially wanted to play each game chronologically at least up until Yakuza 7/ Like a dragon, but I keep seeing new games releases and spinoffs that look very interesting, such as Judgement, Ishin, and most recently Pirates in Hawaii.
With my full-time job and other adult responsibilities I can't possibly hope to get to play all of them, else I'll never catch up to the current releases.
Are there any titles you suggest I should skip? Are there any "absolutely must play no matter what" titles?

can't upload images from pixel 8 pro
Hi there, I've got this issue that when I try to upload an image it just doesn't work. It doesn't give me any error messages, the image is simply not uploaded. I click upload and nothing happens. If it's a screenshot, sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't. Connect doesn't give me any feedback if the image is uploading at all, or if the request was denied or ignored or whatever.
The issue seems to be worse when trying to upload an image in a comment. Has anybody else encountered this problem?
I miss rif
I used to browse reddit on rif for years before the official app even released. The official app is like "can I have a reddit, mom?" - "we have reddit at home" Reddit at home: takes an eternity to load even if it's a text post, keeps recommending me stuff I didn't sub to, full of ads, screen is filled with full sized images so it takes a lot longer to see posts that I'm willing to click on...
I miss rif. I used to lurk and look at memes on rif all the time, occasionally asking for advice on relationships or jobs or whatnot. I'm considering quitting reddit altogether, just found out about Lemmy. Is there a lotr memes or prequel memes community over here?
