Sorry to hear that. Religion sucks. Religious parents suck even more. Genuinely hope it works out OK for you.

Maybe the ransomware would be better than seeing the video

No they can't "fuck you up permanently" that is just conspiracy nonsense. Their malpractice is the lowest of any that practice medicine. Why? Because it's minimally invasive and nowhere near as dangerous as a medical doctor incorrectly prescribing the wrong medication. Many countries also require lengthy degrees for Chiropractic of 5yrs, which includes some similar studies of a regular medical doctor (so that they know what not to try to handle and refer out). And a lot of the spinal manipulation techniques are being adopted today by physical therapists because they see the scientifically based advantages. Stop spreading disinformation.

Cascade encryption algo of multiple ciphers better than a single strong cipher?
I was looking for a multi-OS file encrypter, for a single solution, and found this one: https://paranoiaworks.mobi/sse/pro_version_features.html
The pro version says, "You get new algorithms: Threefish 1024bit, SHACAL-2 512bit and Paranoia C4 2048bit (which is a cascade of ThreefishβSerpentβAESβSHACAL2)."
Any real benefit to a multiple encryption scheme of 4 different ciphers for that 3rd algo? Just seems like it could increase the likelihood of introducing more possible vulns and/or more susceptible to cryptanalysis

Changing domain on existing Mastodon server question
So I know, I know you're not really supposed to change the domain of an already existing Mastodon server. But I did anyway and set the previous domain as alt domain in config. However, to see content of accounts I previously followed, I need to keep the old domain running. With a redirect in place to the new domain it breaks seeing those account's content. Anyway to resolve this so I can point old domain to new and see all content? I tried unfollow/refollow and it didn't work. Thanks

Thumbnail cache saved to object storage?
I've set up object storage properly on my instance. However, I noticed that pictrs is still ballooning in size and I beleive it's due to the thumbnail cache. This cache does not appear to be getting stored in the object storage. Any idea how I can have anything saved in pictrs be stored in my object storage provider rather than local? Thanks

4kiptv.tv seems to be dead -- good alternative?
As the title suggests, the IPTV service 4kiptv.tv sites are no longer working. Either they pulled the plug themselves or were getting shut down.
Either way, I've tried a handful of other "4k" providers but the 4kiptv.tv seemed the best. Anyone have a good rec on the best iptv provider with lots of 4k content?

S3 Object Storage with Embedded Pict-rs install?
I built my instance from source: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/from_scratch.html
It shows very few options for pict-rs in the UI config. I was wondering if I'm still able to apply object storage and/or conduct a migration?
Or, am I going to need to install pict-rs from source as well?
If I am able to use object storage with the embedded install, what settings would I need to add to the lemmy.hjson
file?
Thank you!

Only able to see subscribed communities
Hello! A new self-hoster of lemmy instance. I've confirmed fedi is working and able to return json result for my server.
However, I am only able to find users and/or communities if I manually search for them.
Is there some sort of propagation or sync that needs to occur in order for searched queries to correctly populate data from the fediverse? Cheers
