i can be hopeful then, im a teen

YES. This is how she behaves!!

yeah, she either apologizes because she “can’t control herself” or blames me

she’s actually my “close friend” but I don’t consider her that for obvious reasons

so this is just like textbook narcissism and not just an asshole?

nothing they do is ever their fault, and what I do is never good enough for them

yeah, makes sense.

Is this “normal bratty” behavior or a sign of a mental health condition?
Someone I know shows stuff such as:
- constantly needing a scapegoat
- shifting blame/cannot take accountability
- exaggerated mindset, often where other people are useless and they are the greatest
- has to maintain a very positive public image, such as being the absolute best
- does not have empathy unless it involves them or impacts their image in some way, if their image is supposed to be empathetic they will act so because of their image
- lacks empathy for people in pain/bad mental health/etc. but their image might be very upset about that
- will often be very nice to people in any sort of power
I’m asking because I’m genuinely curious if I should help, and maybe that even if they exhibit negative behaviors, they’re not a completely TERRIBLE person despite how they treat me.

i will post!! They’re new!!

communities for my fellow toki pona speakers

some foreign-language lesbian communities 🇵🇱 🇷🇺

thankssss <3 what do u identify as if u don’t mind I ask

i created “pan pals”
i thought it was a catchy name for a pansexual group, which I don’t see much of on lemmy, if at all.

Eh, a lil bit

Agreed, as an AFAB person myself

She is doing better 😊

ah no i just asked her how she was doing bc she seemed upset

just a lil bit

we do!! she’s better now, i cant ask them bc they’re friends w her ex who has a crush on her

yeah kinda
but her behavior was also confusing me even in a friend way

makes sense

ok tysm, last time i tried to ask she just said she was fine

She's usually busy with sports/inactive on phone. plus, she and her ex like each other (tho she says it's not true, they flirt and ex fs likes her) and her ex happens to be a close friend
But i'll try asking

she supposedly likes someone else that she broke up w 2 yrs ago, unless she likes two ppl at once
ig not all ppl are openly flirty when they feel this way but still. i did act avoidant towards my crushes.
if she didn’t see things as just friends, it might explain a lot better, but im not confident, i just assume no

what can it mean when a girl (a friend) suddenly acts odd ?
i don’t really need advice yet, it’s just a question. a girl im friends with acts really odd. we are friends, and we used to talk a lot, but then she started getting quieter, making less eye contact.
she also started being tenser/snippy at times.
when she’s not snippy, she’s just very quiet, which is most of the time. sometimes she’ll scoot over next to me but then scoot away, or act like she wants to sit by me but then goes away.
she doesn’t seem to be acting rude at all or mad at me. she will be nice, like smiling and waving and saying “hello”, or energetic when she can respond over text, so i don’t believe i’ve done anything to hurt her, but it’s just been really odd. what, from your experience, make a friend start acting this way? (especially girl because idk about guy friend behaviors)
most of the time, she acts normal, and i appreciate our friendship, and she seems to not hate me or anything like i said
update: i asked bc i was curious abt her behavior as friends, not jus

Why are posts on Lemmy.world downvoted to a large number ?
Genuine question.

i got banned from a sub by a mod; can this user be banned from Reddit for discrimination?
this was a while ago, so i forgot the sub, but the mod of it permabanned me for speaking russian because “he and his friends didn’t like my culture.” i ranted about this in another sub, but i quickly became shadowbanned. eventually, i was permabanned from Reddit as i apparently violated a rule and harassed a guy? I didn’t even put the guys username, nor do I remember it—it was definitely generated by Reddit tho.
of course, it’s been a while ago, so I don’t want anyone to actually do anything, but this is more of a genuine question rather than “I have his username and all his details: I want him banned.”

how normal is it to snore at 13/14 years old?
as a teenager, i know about two people (ages 13 and 14) who snore. usually, i don’t come across this, so i was wondering how common/normal it is.
people have told me that snoring at that age is not normal and a sign of sleep apnea.
