  • Can't say the same myself unfortunately. The community was one of the main reasons I moved to Gentoo. I've had so many bad encounters on the Arch IRC channel, they often made me feel like a complete idiot for not knowing certain things. On Gentoo on the other hand the community has very knowledgeable people but they don't feel 'elitist' about it and are in fact very kind and helpful.

  • You COULD probably do it like this if you want to gain experience with ansible. Otherwise it's total overkill. Just write down a list of must-have apps that you currently use and install them manually in the new system. It's always a nice opportunity to start fresh and clean.

  • What are the best resources out there? Arch Wiki without a doubt

Doubt! The Gentoo Handbook is one of the best, if not the best documentation out there. It's especially useful for beginners because it doesn't just offer code snippets to copy/paste, but explains background knowledge and how things work.

I took this photo with my phone in the early morning near Berne, Switzerland. It was an incredible atmosphere.
