I love Kagi! Blacklisting domains was an instant purchase for me. Yes you twiddle around with just hiding results in a browser through a plugin, but that is just obfuscating it for yourself.
Except Arc is basically abandoned by the company. Also Zen runs on Linux. Looks are somewhat similar but π€·ββοΈ
Running Kitty the past year and a bit and really like it. Used to run into weird laggy issues with other terminal emulators, but Kitty runs like a beast for me.
fire!
So what you want to know is: if i have a very negative attitude towards Italian people, can i support my wife in putting as much tabasco on her pizza?
My brain is not wired to be proud of things (chase the process!).
But i think achievements that I would put on my resume of life:
That is a great achievement, and a good looking one as well! One i haven't yet reached!

DAW or Digital Audio Workstation
Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
At some point you might want to record some of the music you have been playing. Of course you can hold your phone next to your guitar and record, and at times you don't need more than that. But what if you want to do a bit more, actually record a full song, or multiple layers of instruments. That's when DAW's come into play.
What are some of your favorites? What are the ones that in specific cases do a thing really good, but in other scenarios not so much.
What instruments do you play?
Your classic introduction (with a twist) topic. What instruments do you play, or what do you want to start playing?
Can't think of a word, but want to add 'automagically' to that list.
Updated the link in the body of the post, hopefully this will work now for everybody. π«£
Live in-ear monitoring system
So to start this community with a question I have myself.
A little bit of context:
I am a drummer, and for shows currently using a Behringer in-ear system where I will get a mono or stereo xlr as input.
This is already a lot better than having to rely on the wedge and I have a little bit of control over at least the volume.
The rest of the band is currently using the wedges.
I would like to upgrade this setup a bit to have more control over what i will hear on my in-ears, and be it more consistent for every show. Next step would be to get the other members to also use it.
Any recommendations on what would be a good starting point that is not immediately breaking the bank, but can be expanded over time and gives us that control.
Thank you, I updated the url in the post.

Musicians - Lemmy - a new community for people making music
I created a new community for musicians. To create a place where the more technical and logistical aspects of being a musician can be discussed.
Topics like: live rigs, hearing protection, song writing over the internet, your favorite DAW etc.
Come and join!
Welcome!
Welcome to the musicians community!
You play an instrument, you are a musician.
This community is focused on the creative and technical aspects of being a musician. Good brands of guitars to play, how to create music outside of the rehearsal space, your vocalist won't stop snoring on the tour bus. That kind of stuff.
It is hard to find the outlets that are not just doom spewing but try to make it smaller and more personal, hopefully some of these podcasts give you a bit more that type of content that is motivating for you.
There are more podcasts that deal with these kind of issues and maybe how to improve on those, or at least give context and options.
A few other podcasts that touch on these subjects:
Revolutionary Left Radio Mass Struggle Live Like the World is Dying (also with Margaret Killjoy) Final Straw Radio This Anthro Life
Already seeing a trend here, joining in:
Behind the Bastards Better Offline Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff Red Menace This Machine Kills Heavyweight (discontinued) Search Engine
To some degree, certainly! If at some point it comes out that a certain sponsor is just total shit, a content creator can be made aware of that. Although, with all these things, it is not always as easy to just drop a sponsor i suppose, there is always contracts involved and all of that. So not expecting a creator to be able to drop a sponsor all of a sudden.
IT person as well, generally just jeans, sneakers (or other shoes) and some kind relatively plain shirt. Whatever is comfortable and does not contain any shocking images.
Haha! This is the kind of information my brain tends to retain, while it makes me work hard for any really useful information. ;)
You're welcome!
Haha yeah it can be hard! Like needing to memorize every (sub)genre on https://everynoise.com π±
Was technodeath a typo? Because mixing Death metal with some kind of techo / electronic genres is available within the death metal scene. But i guess we are all referring to tech(nical) death metal here.
Additions of some bands that i really like: Wormed, Septycal Gorge, Putridity, Defeated Sanity, Archspire.
local lemmy-ui - translations
UPDATE: running pnpm run translations:generate
(and also the other translations tasks, just to be sure) fixed the issue.
When trying to setup a local Lemmy instance (for development), the lemmy-ui
repository throws an error when trying to start the dev server.
I followed the guide: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/contributors/02-local-development.html
When running pnpm dev
to start the dev server, it presents me with two errors:
bash
ERROR in ./src/shared/services/I18NextService.ts 14:0-40 Module not found: Error: Can't resolve '../translations/en' in '/home/ff0000/workspace/lemmy/lemmy-ui/src/shared/services' resolve '../translations/en' in '/home/ff0000/workspace/lemmy/lemmy-ui/src/shared/services' using description file: /home/ff0000/workspace/lemmy/lemmy-ui/package.json (relative path: ./src/shared/services) using description file: /home/ff0000/workspace/lemmy/lemmy-ui/package.json (relative path: ./src/shared/translations/en) no extension /home/
So Protonmail / ProtonVPN is not a good option?
I'm trying to get rid of my Google dependency and one of those steps was moving over to Protonmail. Now in the past few days i have been picking up signals that even Protonmail is not as clean as it might be.
Does this really impact the privacy of how i use email and so is moving to Protonmail a step forward from Google, or is Protonmail just as bad?
If so, what could be alternatives?
edit:
Some of the alternatives being mentioned in the comments are:
Email:
VPN:
edit 2 (2023):
There seems to be some new activity around this post. At the time of writing the post (2 years ago) there were some stories going as user @UnfortunateShort described in their comment. This made me question the best options available at that moment. C
