  • my father ferments lemon peel all the time so i guess that's not it. is your peel organic, or at least well cleaned? i imagine that the chemicals which prevent the lemon from spoiling are the same which impede fermentation

  • i had the same issue with a cr2032 powered kitchen scale. my take is that the scale draws way too much power for the battery, and i guess its the display who draws most. (had the same issue with a kitchen thermometer). so it's bad design i guess

  • Late to the party, and no offence to buddhism, but i always loved this quote from Terry Pratchett

“Master, what is the difference between a humanistic, monastic system of belief in which wisdom is sought by means of an apparently nonsensical system of questions and answers, and a lot of mystic gibberish made up on the spur of the moment?"

Wen considered this for some time, and at last said: "A fish!"

And Clodpool went away, satisfied.” ― Terry Pratchett, Thief of Time

(copies the quote from https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/46982-thief-of-time?page=2 but i'm rather sure its correct, so i didn't check my copy).

    Recommended books

I'm new to WordPress and i've just managed to create a local site using bedrock running inside docker.

Are their any goods books/texts recommended for professional wordpress setup and development? My impression is that the titles I'm able to find online are out of date or of questionable relevance. Any ideas? Thanks a lot for your help!

  • totally agree with reading more. text is easy to consume, easy to store, (somewhat) easy to verify (if sources are provided), and it keeps (if using dead trees for storage). ever since the pandemic i started reading more and must say i really like it

    comment traduire "mind blown"

bonsoir à tous et toutes, je viens de discuter comment traduire "mind blown" au rançais? je suis bien sûr que je l'avais déjà lu quelque fois ici, mais peut-être je me trompe. Merci beaucoup!

  • in Germany at least, there has been a huge shift in academic psychology from being a more or less liberal arts (Geisteswissenschaften?) subject to becoming much more grounded in the natural sciences (read: biology, neurosciences, medicine, experiments, statistics). thus, when i did my degree Reich was only mentioned in history of psychology courses, Adorno not all. my understanding is that Freud et al are still discussed in liberal arts subjects

How to find a specific make of jeans again?

(I know its not really buy-it-for-life, but it's a 100% cotton, no-stretch jeans which usually last me a couple of years)

Does any one of you know how to find a pair of Levis jeans given the info on the care label? The place where i bought it has closed down, other shops around me are staffed by pupils, and their website returns nothing.

    Per the label:

Made in Spain, CIF A 08298606 00501 0126 32x34 267004 0204 08159 LEVI STRAUSS EUROPE MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA 15-23 AVENUE ARNAUD FRAITEUR BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

I believe the part in bold should specify the make (501) and the specific style.

As i don't really care about the brand: Can anyone recommend a decent pair of 100% cotton, no-stretch, straight-leg (but somewhat bulky thighs) jeans which can be worn with (biker) boots?

Thanks a lot for your help!
