  • I do own a Fairphone 5 as my new company phone, I used an iPhone 13 mini before. Sadly I have to say that I don't agree with the "they are great", while a Fairphone 5 is a totally capable and usable phone it lacks a lot of the lifestyle appeal that a modern smartphone brings. The Fairphone is quite laggy, the camera is not very good and since Google focusses a lot on the pixel line the stock android experience on the Fairphone lacks a lot of comfort features. I would still recommend it for everyone willing to look beyond these downsides and just uses their phone for communication. Sadly that's not the majority of people

  • You can still share the STL though :)

And for the OpenSCAD files I saw so far, the most important variables are usually well documented with comments at the top of the file, which makes it easier for most people how to adapt the files to their needs without knowledge of coding.

  • I think the biggest benefit is sharing.

While you can do parametric design in Fusion, if you share it you can only share it with people using Fusion. Same with other CAD software, you are limiting the userbase.

OpenSCAD on the other hand is a slim FOS tool that anyone can download, it's not limited.

    • For comedy I love watching Drew Gooden and especially Kurtis Conner.
    • DougDoug (Twitch Streamer) has an incredible creativity for stream ideas and his videos on the main channel are edited incredibly well to capture the essence of a stream in ~30 minutes.
    • Techmoan is one of my favorite technology YouTubers. He has such a calming voice
    • Another Tech YouTuber I really love is CRD - Cathode Ray Dude. He pretty much is the nerdiest nerd for the most incredible niches. Highly recommend
    • To get some girls here: I enjoy the essays by Gabi Belle quite a lot, she makes video essays on pop culture with a high focus on music and Gordon Ramsay for some reason
  • I really had to fight for versioning. Everyone was just patch version here. Breaking changes in the API, new features, completely overhauled design? Well, it's 0.6.24 instead of 0.6.23 now.

But gladly we're moving away from version numbers alltogether. Starting next year it will be 2025.1.0 with monthly releases

  • Not all, but a lot of them. If you encounter a fountain that looks like you can drink from it and it DOESN'T have a sign telling you it's non-drinkable, you can safely drink from it

  • There are some fountains like this in Airports and where the tapwater is pretty bad, but usually a public water fountain is an old fountain from the medieval times with some ornaments and stuff

This is the one from my home city

But they are only outside because on the inside you just fill your bottle in the bathroom

  • Simply put: no. It doesn't make any sense.

Russia as a whole will not be cut from the internet. North Korea isn't cut from the internet. The public is. And the public does not need this information

  • Seriously, I tried using ChatGPT for my work sooo often and it never gave me results I could work with. I was promised a tool that replaces me, yet it does only suggest me things that are not working correctly.

  • since you don't have another phone, I think the risk is too high to repair it. It's the best option for sure (for the planet and for your wallet), but if it breaks you don't have a phone at all.

That being said, if you want to learn how to repair phones, you can live with loosing the money for the screen and if you can live without a phone for some days in the worst case, I think you should still go for it. It's a great skill for the future.
