  • I believe the comic is depicting a Chinese restaurant in the US. Chinese food restaurants in the US often sell Japanese food or elements of Japanese cuisine because Japanese restaurants were shut down during the WWII Japanese internment camps. US Chinese food restaurants started selling some Japanese foods to fill the market gap and many of the Chinese food restaurants still continue that.

  • The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson was asked about the video this morning and said that they hope the video will help people understand China's positions.

Reuters: The Foreign Ministry WeChat account this morning published a video, both in English and Chinese, in which it said China would not kneel to the U.S. and accused Donald Trump of “playing a 90-day pause game with other nations and forcing them to limit trade with China.” Do you have any comment on this?

Guo Jiakun: Thank you for your attention to the social media accounts of the MFA. We hope this video will help everyone better understand China’s position.

China published this video in response to US tariffs, "Never Kneel Down"

    https://xcancel.com/MFA_China/status/1917069881142612278

This version of the video has English audio. There is a another version of the video with Chinese audio.

This gist of the video is that China will not concede to US pressure because when you give a bully an inch, then they will take a mile. The video says "all bullies are paper tigers".

The video is only 2 minutes, worth watching.

Louis Theroux is happy about the reactions to his new documentary about Israeli Settlers in the West Bank

  • The whole Weird Weekends series from 1999 is pretty good. Episode 3 is about pornstars, part of it is about a heterosexual man who stars in gay porn as a job, they call it "gay for pay".

In 2007, he made a documentary about the Westboro Baptist Church. This is a church which is infamous for picketing the funerals of US soldiers and saying that claiming that god kills US soldiers because the US supports homosexuality.

Another 2007, he made a documentary about bourgies gambling in Las Vegas. There's a guy who owns a mattress company and he goes to Vegas and feeds all of his profits into slot machines.

In 2011, he made a 2 part documentary about a "megajail" in Miami. In the US, a jail is different than a prison, in that a jail is a place where suspected criminals are held before trial and a prison is a place. It's a massive facility of people who have been charged but not convicted. Louis interviews the inmates.

In 2015, Louis made a documentary about transgender kids. He interviews children with gender dysphoria in California who are receiving gender affirming care and also interviews some transgender adults. The movie shows transgender people positively.

In 2016, he made a documentary about severe alcoholics in the UK.

In 2022, he made a documentary about internet neo-nazis which featured Nick Fuentes and Baked Alaska.

These are a few that I have watched which were pretty good. I'm not sure about a favorite. He's made dozens. What I like about his documentary style is he mostly asks people questions and let's people speak for themselves.

seems like this person uploaded the whole movie on a tweet. I expect that BBC is copyright claiming people who reupload. BBC is funded by UK tax dollars and if you live in the UK, you can watch it for free on the BBC iPlayer. BBC tends to try to prevent people outside the UK from watching their content. if that tweet goes down, check filesharing sites or something if you are savvy.

  • I did some websurfing, saw some various news articles on firework tariffs. Some firework companies have halted shipments. Then I came across the /r/fireworks subreddit. I'm seeing a lot of posts by people who are saying that they are firework retailers and have canceled their orders from China. Some posts say that the tariff on fireworks was at 59% as of 25 days ago. People are saying that 2026 is "America's 250th Birthday", 250 years since 1776. Time will tell, I guess

  • Louis Theroux previously made a documentary about the West Bank in 2011 titled "Louis Theroux: The Ultra Zionists".

There is a certain style to Louis Theroux documentaries. The documentaries are often about people who are very bad and Louis always presents himself as a neutral observer to the people that he interviews.

You may not learn anything new from this documentary. This documentary will however, have quite a large audience. It is being aired on the BBC public television.

In this documentary he travels around the West Bank and is harassed by multiple different IOF militants, they even point guns at Louis. The documentary shows the audience that the IOF and Israeli settlers are very bad people.

I've watched many Louis Theroux movies and I've enjoyed many of them a lot.

  • Funniest possible treat shortage would be fireworks. Independence Day is only 2 months away. Fireworks were originally invented in China. 82% of fireworks in the world are made in China.

Every Independence Day of Trump's first presidency, the hogs went wild with fireworks. Imagine July 4, the first Independence Day of Trump's second term, and a shortage of fireworks. Hogs would go nuts.

  • I think Yugopnik is saying that he is secretly or not secretly a long time leftypol user.

Leftypol began as a board on 8chan in 2014. The Leftypol board was created by 4chan users who began to take interests in reading Marxist and Anarchist literature. 8chan grew in popularity in 2014, when moot (admin of 4chan) banned all discussion of gamergate. 8chan, similar to reddit, allowed users to create their own boards. In 2016, the creator of 8chan Frederich Brennan sold the website to Jim Watkins, who is a leader of the Qanon movement. In 2019, 8chan was shut down for extended periods of time because 3 different right wing mass shooters posted their manifestos to 8chan. Between 2017-2019, many of the Leftypol users migrated to a website called bunkerchan. The new Leftypol website was formed between 2019-2020. The bunkerchan url now redirects to the Leftypol url.

I browsed leftypol a few times in the 2014-2016 time period. This was before the chapo podcast existed. I would consider leftypol's beliefs to have class reductionist tendencies. They may have matured in the past 10 years. I don't really know much about the new leftypol site.

  • I believe you can still ask him questions if you post them here

    https://leftypol.org/leftypol/res/2242808.html

the website has no user registration. you type your question into the "comment" box and then click the button which says "new reply". leave the "name" box empty, it is considered bad posting etiquette to post with a name.

  • He's answering questions which where posted on Leftypol up to 4 days ago. The post was briefly stickied on hexbear. If you wanted him to answer your question, you had to post in the Leftypol thread.

Bill Maher beefs with Larry David, Bill Maher says it's insulting to victims of the Holocaust if you compare Trump to Hitler

    https://www.mediaite.com/news/bill-maher-fumes-over-larry-davids-op-ed-mocking-his-trump-meeting-insulting-to-six-million-dead-jews/

March 31, Bill Maher had dinner at the Whitehouse with Donald Trump, Kid Rock, and Dana White.

April 11, Bill Maher made an episode of his show glazing Trump. It was loaded with civility shit. He talked about how civil Trump is in person and how they agree on a lot of stuff.

Bill Maher is a right wing Zionist who identifies as a Democrat on his talk show.

April 21, Larry David (creator of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm) publishes a satirical story in NYT titled "My Dinner with Adolf". It does not name Bill Maher directly but people have interpreted it to be mocking Bill Maher. https://archive.is/tNjw7

I think Larry David is a Bernie-crat. He's met Bernie Sanders. Some articles say he has never been to Israel but some of the episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm seem pro-Israel. He might be a Liberal Zionist.

Yesterday, Bill Maher accuses Larry David

  • No, the US has drivers licenses as the de facto id. It was not intended to be an ID because it was only meant to say that you can drive a car. Then the people don't drive a car, don't have a driver's license. In many states, the driver's license was very insecure and easy to make fraudulent licenses. This is why the US is trying to do the "real id" system since 2005, but the system is still not completed. Very car-brained country. Social Security Number was also not intended to be an ID, which is why it is so insecure.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_identity_card_policies_by_country

There's a map on this page which shows many countries around the world have citizen ID cards.

The US has no real national id system because politicians want for it to be hard for working people to file various paperwork. It's made tedious on purpose. It would be better if working people can more easily have an ID card. Being forced to show that ID card on demand though, is not very good.

  • The first 60 seconds of the 90 second video clip is a woman who is seemingly a factory worker. She laughs and jokes for the duration. She says that it is very unlikely for the factory she works at to be shut down and if it does then she has the skills and education to find a new job.

The next 30 seconds is a bunch of people. One person says that they are search for new clients in different countries. One person says that their company will expand domestic sales. One person says that US consumers will suffer the most from the tariffs. One person says that if China compromises with the US, then the US will make things even worse.

  • Podcaster Tim Pool was invited to Tuesday’s White House briefing and used his time in the “new media” seat to bash the media for its portrayal of Kilmar Abgrego Garcia.

Abrego Garcia — the Salvadoran man who was taken from his home in Maryland to the maximum security prison CECOT in his home country — has been at the center of a national debate since his arrest.

President Donald Trump’s administration admitted that he was deported in error, but Trump officials continue to stand by the decision with claims that Abrego Garcia is a member of the gang MS-13.

On Tuesday, Pool used the extraordinary access he was given to simply tee up White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to attack the media.

    https://xcancel.com/Acyn/status/1914732014970015818

Transcript of what Tim Pool says

Many of the news organizations that are represented in this room have marched in lockstep on false narratives, such as: the Very Fine People Hoax, the Covington Smear, and now what is being called the Maryland Man Hoax.

Where, an MS-13 gang member adjudicated by 2 different judges is simply being referred to as a Maryland Man over and over again. Now in an effort for the White House to expand access to new companies, you've created this new media seat.

So following this expansion, you've had numerous outlets disparage the companies you've had sit here. I'm wondering if you can comment on the unprofessional behavior, as well as if there are any plans to expand access to new companies.

Patty Morin (pictured next to Trump) is being sued for stealing GoFundMe money intended for her grandchildren

    https://xcancel.com/WhiteHouse/status/1913080244216459490

The Trump administration has been platforming Patty Morin to say that immigrants should be deported without due process.

The children of murdered Maryland mother Rachel Morin are suing their own family members, claiming they have not received any money from crowdfunding efforts, according to our media partners at The Baltimore Banner.

Morin was found murdered in August 2023, along the Ma & Pa Trail in Harford County.

A GoFundMe page to pay for Morin's funeral and support her children raised tens of thousands of dollars. However, in a lawsuit filed in the Harford County Circuit Court, the children said they have yet to see any of that money, the Banner reported.

According to the Banner, the lawsuit says Morin's children, between the ages of 8 and 19, also have not received any proceeds from four restaurant fundraisers held on their behalf.

The lawsuit alleges Morin's mother, Patty, and sister, Rebekah, have kept th
