How can I join this group?

I'm new to Lemmy.

I found this group

https://lemmy.world/c/veganhomecooks

I haven't found a way to subscribe to it while in Beehaw

Thanks for any help.

  • I never heard of Naomi Wu before.

All of the sudden, articles like this one are all over the place showing a woman with red hair in provocative outfits claiming to be a tech activist being silenced.

Would anyone care to give me a two line summary of who she is and what her deal is?

  • You’re not wrong about the tankie thing, I’d say it’s the major conflict in the “threadiverse” right now.

That is GOOD to hear. I came across a post on Reddit about the founder a few months ago. I posted about it on my Mastodon account and got some crap from some guy about it, but that was about it aside from apathetic responses. I got the impression nobody cared.

Thanks for the very helpful information.

This is the nicest reception I've gotten on any platform since Reddit diaspora.

    Hello Beehaw - New User.

    Hey there,

    I'm a refugee from Squabbles/Squablr.co.

I didn't care for the recent changes to the TOS nor the "free speech site" dog whistle announcement.

I really liked the lack of downvoting there, so someone suggested Beehaw.

I've been slow to give Lemmy a try. I read that the founder developer and current owner of Lemmy.ML is a "tankie" - a European communist extremist.

Is it possible with my Beehaw account to filter lemmy.ml out and is it something I want to do?

I'm not familiar with subject driven fediverse social media yet.

    Happy weekend to all

  • I joined Squabbles in June and liked it until the "free speech site" announcement.

I loved the lack of content ranking and downvoting so someone suggested Beehaw.

It seemed to me that the developer/admin jayclees was your basic tunnel visioned coder ignorant of news/current events. I got the feeling that he isn't politically invested. He just wanted to be left alone to code, so he changed his rules taking away the justification for messaging him. Posting on the site really slowed down. It looks like he lost many of his active users and kept his lurkers. I guess he figures it is worth the price of being left alone and that he will eventually get regular active posters again.
