  • Some of the things I replaced for fun

Some things I broke as I am learning to fix bikes (Hubs mainly... when a cog comes off unexpectedly it usually takes the threads with it)

Others just did wear out that fast... last chain only gave me around 1,000 mi but I rode in a lot of rain / mud and used an awful chain lube. (It was well over 1% out of spec and all winter I had a knocking in my pedal that I just couldn't figure out)

  • Bent in which way?

Rear triangle on a steel bike can be straightened out if you are careful.

Front triangle shouldn't have issues unless it's bad from the start. (that requires a table and skill)

Only bike I have straightened was a steel huffy (not worth working on)

It had a head tube that was twisted so wasn't fixable... Rear was easy enough to align though.

  • I have a fixed gear from state that cost a bit over $500 3 years ago.

It's my beer and dinner fetching machine. I ride it everyday (the longway) to my local store for ingredients for dinner

3 years and 3000 miles later

I have had to replace 2 chains, 3 rear hubs (my own mistakes... check your lockring or blow up a hub), saddle, grips, cog, lockring, Pedals (went from flats to cages and am now on SPD), replaced original brakes with Shimano brakes and have gone through A LOT of tires.

I think I am in it at like $1500... Tools I don't want to calculate but building and truing wheels is a very relaxing thing to do

Here's a picture of it loaded up. I think that I was getting ready for a party

    Its pretty anti-fixie

  • Yeah it does nothing to help the Gray area of E-Bike. I tried to comment earlier but it was long and boring.

By definitions (without these clarifications) these Surrons are already NOT E-Bikes (so must be a dirt bike Offroad vehicle of some sort)

    BUT

I have a Schwinn meridian with a 1200watt motor that can hit 30+mph with no pedal assist... BUT it still has working pedals... What is that?

(IF a cop asks..... I have no fucking clue... I just bought the cocksucker on amazon) ;)

MORE than 750Watt motor = NOT an E-Bike (gray area)

more than 20MPH without assistance = NOT an E-Bike (gray area)

What is this MONSTER I have built?!!

  • I am curious as to what "around here means" I notice some countries I travel to helmets for even motorcycles is almost sacrilege.

And I am not saying that EVERYONE ALWAYS... certainly not.

But the $300 Ebike from Costco 9 times out of 10 that little fucker has his helmet on the handlebars IF he has one.

    Big BMX... HA forget it

(no BMX here really... we lack skate parks)

Scooters "How fast can a scooter REALLY go man?"

Roadies (old guys like me... but always helmeted... and them shorts <3... I mean)

Surrons (or eletric dirtbikes / dirtbkes) almost always have helmets that fit the bikes ON.

We had a group of kids a few years back that would blast around on quads and GoKarts with no helmets. Saw them picking themselves up off the concrete a few times though.

I am in a US Suburban Area Upper middle class.

  • The scooters FREAK ME OUT. AS a person that skateboarded in his past...

I don't think these E-Scooter guys realize how easily they would loose their face going 20+mph while looking at their phone and not wearing a helmet....

    NO FUCKING THANKS!

  • Thats been mine too. I ride fixie every day here. Surron riders typically got their shit on point.

I ride fixie because I couldn't spend $4k on a surron lol (I think starting with dirt bike money has a lot to do with why I typically find these kids better equipped)

  • California's Ebike rules are kind of dumb.

I assumed since these had no pedals they were already considered Off-Road vehicles. As they did not fit ANY E-Bike classification.

This proposal doesn't do much to address anything beyond "Lets get these Surrons out of our neighborhoods"

In my neighborhood these things are quite popular but I am usually happy to see that most teens on them rock full face helmets. (The scooters and cheaper E-Bike riders seem much less likely to wear any helmet)

  • Packaging is everything and this could be neat…

Everything the flipper zero does can be achieved with an ESP32 and CC1101 which runs around $10 yet the flipper is a $200 device

Add some costs for nfc and an infrared LED.. $20 total

Packaging is everything… my flipper kicks ass

  • The top three are used in California.

I mainly stick with Dude and Buddy (Buddy being my go to for strangers "Thanks Buddy")

In my office a few years back I started ironically calling people "Homie" and that overtime morphed into a gender neutral term of endearment we all used for each other.

I really wonder where "Homie" fits into this

YSK: You can get Naloxone (Narcan) shipped to you for only the cost of shipping

    https://endoverdose.net/

The only real hoop you have to jump through is to go through the online training course which takes about 30 minutes and is all about administration of the drug

I received my package today and feel it's important to have around with the current rise in opioid overdoses.

Their kit does not include CPR masks so I recommend purchasing some to keep with your doses. (Won't share a link due to Amazon boycott)

I would've bought some ages ago if I lived in a bigger city.
