  • If they run away you can find them. If they get close to something dangerous like a big road for example you get alerted and can go get them so they don't get run over.

  • It can't really be enforced and they say so in the proposal. It is something "good actors" should abide by just like robots.txt. Anyone can just ignore it if they want.

  • That doesn't apply here. Bluesky does not use activitypub

    I can't change my cursor (help)

    Since a week or two back, my cursor theme for QT apps stopped working. In Hyprland and some apps (like Kitty) the cursor is the hyprland logo. GTK apps work fine as I set them with NWG-look. I have set the QT theme to Breeze with qt5ct and qt6ct.

    I followed the wiki and according to the FAQ the cursor being a hyprland logo is because no cursor theme is installed. But like, no? Breeze is installed, which is the theme I want. I also installed other hyprcursor themes to test them but that didn't work either. What is going on?

    Here is the relevant part of my config. Did I miss anything?

     undefined

        env=HYPRCURSOR_THEME,Breeze
        env=HYPRCURSOR_SIZE,24

        env=XCURSOR_SIZE,24
        env=XCURSOR_THEME,Breeze

        env=QT_QPA_PLATFORM,wayland
        env=QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME,qt5ct

    Edit: forgot this which is also in the config

     undefined

    exec-once = hyprctl setcursor

  • That would drain your battery pretty quickly since it would need to be communicating with other instances constantly

  • You know you can get 100/100 speeds right? But it will cost more obviously. That's why people who don't upload stuff get 100/10. It matches their needs just as well and is cheaper.

  • Same energy as chr(sum(range(ord(min(str(not())))))))

  • The mouse stays on the internal display.

  • This laptop has no dedicated gpu

  • Exactly. No I can't move my mouse to the external monitor.

  • No I don't have that installed. Isn't DisplayLink something completely different?

    Rebooting while connected sorta worked, but not really. When I logged in the laptop monitor went black and the external monitor was black with a white underscore at the top left as if a terminal was open. So that's something I guess but I could not use my computer at all in this state.

  • Yes those are both installed

  • Right sorry forgot to mention that. The laptop is an Asus Vivobook S14 K3402Z (not the OLED one in case that matters). The monitor is a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900

    Is there support for USB C DP alt mode via Thunderbolt?

    Does Linux support this? I am trying to connect my laptop to a monitor via USB C. The laptop has two Thunderbolt ports and the monitor has support for USB C DP alt mode. I have tested the same setup on my work laptop (windows 11) and it works fine but my laptop running arch does not work. My laptop detects the monitor correctly so it shows up in the KDE plasma display configuration but the monitor is not getting any input. As far as I could tell this is supported in the kernel. Am I wrong? Am I missing some important package?

  • Can someone explain? What is he doing in the last panel?

  • Nothing I can find. The latest release has a "breaking changes" section but that is nothing unusual. All software has breaking changes from time to time and should be addressed by your distro maintainers.

  • He must have known he would get caught right? Why else keep a written note on him? He must have intended for it to be found and mentioned in the news to further bring attention to the broken healthcare system

    What unusual thing does your pet do?

    I'll start. My girlfriend's cat never purrs or does the "baking biscuits" thing even when he is clearly enjoying the cuddles.

    Why do podcasts have preroll ads now?

    I don't know when this started but I noticed it for the first time a few months ago. Some podcasts will have preroll ads that are obviously tailored to me since they are not in the same language as the podcast, instead they are in my native language and if I connect to a VPN in another country the ad will change to one from that country. They also seem to appear regardless of podcast app. I have used both AntennaPod and Spotify. AntennaPod is free so I guess they source their podcasts from some third party website that could be adding in the ads. But since I am paying for Spotify I am expecting not to have to listen to any ads. So who is adding in these ads? Can I get rid of them or am I just stuck with them?
