  • I wouldn't go that far the source code is verifiable and while there have been some...very questionable architectural decisions (Making the modlog less transparent, making the voting system less robust etc), it's mostly all good.

    We can never be truly sure that the version running on .ml is the same version built from the publicly available source or something like a private custom version

    If Official Y does something and senator A makes public calls for their resignation and all that happens is a few headlines. Then they might think now is not the right time to push for something more serious.

    Now if senator A makes that public call, and all of a sudden he's got a whole bunch of politicians joining in on his calls after and headline after headline, then they'll have a good idea on what to do next

    But it can also be just a cop out, something to say "I did something"

    Is indeed true, I have personally seen Goat allow (and even participate in) well known tankies to speak in threads without bans or comment removal even when they are downvoted to oblivion. Provided they aren't just trolling, which is quite common as you might imagine.

  • I checked what @PhilipTheBucket@piefed.social found, I don't think it's as bad as it first appears.

    All of the references are from 2 years ago and a lot of information has come out since then about Israel, their propaganda, what Hamas really did and what they didn't do or what was overblown, Gaza and the Israeli genocide as a whole.

    Furthermore, I also agree with you @PhilipTheBucket@piefed.social about someone or a group manipulating to stir the pot. It's something the Tankie Triad has been known to do in the past and there's no reason to believe they aren't doing it now.

  • I've switched to the neutral term "Threadiverse" as that seems applicable to all "Reddit style forums and link aggregators" for most things

    I use Lemmy-verse here because the next biggest, PieFed, already has the entire Triad as part of their default blocks in the new instance setup flow (which btw Tankies hate PieFed and have declared it to be "anti-communist software trying to push out Lemmy" lmao)

    I tend to focus on .ml because Hex and Grad are generally defederated from by most major instances because they are even more extreme than .ml on top of the fact that there's a perception among instances that if they defederate from dessalines' (head Lemmy dev, main .ml admin) .ml instance there will be retaliation in the form of pull back of technical support for their instance (Which, yea, I could totally see him doing that)
