The key is doing something without a good grasp on its importance. Thinking is overrated. Doing is what matters.
I really like Ruby’s rake. It’s an actually sane language and quick to learn. No idiosyncratic shell scripts cobbled together. The makefile is written in plain Ruby. That also makes it super powerful to adapt to your needs. Nor parsing XML. Just load your rake file into your interactive Ruby shell (I’m partial to pry), try things, test it. Our time for debugging build errors dropped to a fraction.
I have used it build C++, Objective-C, and Java projects for a medium sized company. Before that we used ant with XML build files from hell.

You are correct that there isn’t a lot of diversity of thought and perspective in many subreddits/communities. The overall extreme polarization has strengthened the echo chambers.

The last few days upvoting and posting on sh.itjust.works has often been slow and unresponsive.
I click on upvote and it takes a second or so to react. It also fails regularly (at least in the UI).
For posting comments, sometimes the submit button leads to no reaction in the UI. Clicking again results in duplicate posts at times.
This seems like a performance/scaling/load issue.
I have have used this instance for months and this sluggishness is new.
