🏳️‍🌈 hi there, i'm blake! i'm a silly gay bear 🌀

  • I wonder if there is an option beyond simply picking between fascism and blue fascism

  • "Trust me", said pro-genocide candidate Kamala Harris, who shows no interest in reigning in the billionaires and corporations rushing to support fascism. "I'm better than Trump. I support US imperialism politely."

  • the people of Gorton and Denton now have a representative who is more interested in dividing people than uniting them.

It's very helpful of him to announce, right out of the gate, that he is going to learn all the wrong lessons from this.

  • UK Politics @feddit.uk

Keir Starmer has written to all Labour MPs to explain why Labour lost the Gorton and Denton by-election

  • Middle class politics enjoyers seem to have this detached take that Green are going to push Labour to the left. You don't get it. Labour are fucking dead. Green are the new Labour.

  • Labour won the last election, but now all their support is jumping ship. Reform are losing support. The next election is the Green's to lose.

  • The two biggest influences on this election IMO were

    1. Andy Burnham being blocked from standing for election by Keir Starmer, because Keir was scared that Andy could challenge his leadership of Labour. Pretty much anyone you talk to in Gorton / Denton agrees that if Andy had been standing he would have won.
    2. Tactical voting against Reform UK. It turns out that fascist ultranationalism is quite unpopular with some people, who will vote tactically in order to keep them out. Labour and Green were both polling pretty much neck and neck, but the tactical voting websites went with Green, for two major reasons - among voters most likely to vote, Green had a small majority, and also because Labour voters were much more willing to tactically vote for Green, than Green voters would be willing to tactically vote Labour. The Gaza Genocide has made Labour completely unelectable among a good chunk of the voter base.
  • ACAB. Cops are on the side of the ruling class. Expect to see increasing violence from them as we push back more and more against the Epstein-supporting ruling class.

For any cops out there, you should resign and get a job which actually helps society.

  • It varies depending on the product, the profit margin on soda for example is often over 100%, other products such as milk would be negative (loss leaders), but in general, most non-junk food groceries usually have a single digit profit margin

  • Laws have never been real. It's just magic paper that society has to collectively agree to believe in for them to work. But they do not apply to the powerful. So it's just a tool of slavery.

  • classic lemmy.world commenter, witnessing fascism ascendant across the west, is still more scared of communism

  • They're probably banned from Blahaj for saying something bigoted about muslims and they believe one news story proves them right

  • Yeah, moderators can't do sitewide bans, only Reddit administrators (employees) can do it.

  • Yes, I understood the joke, my comment was also a joke that it could be interpreted as "my sister and my husband"

  • Yes, obviously, we all agree on that today, but at the time, that wasn't widely accepted.

  • Do you believe that everything that is possible has already happened?

The entire premise of anarchism is that individuals will always try to take problematic actions to gain control and keep control, so we need to build a society capable of resisting that. The entire system is designed around making it as hard as possible to sieze power. It's THE system which most resists becoming a dictatorship.

I encourage you to learn more about anarchism, check out an anarchist FAQ before you dismiss it.

  • Yep, nazi shit. Fuck off.

  • Vance has consistently demonstrated that he's way better at not saying the quiet part out loud. He's far better at justifying fascist behavior and sugar coating it in a way that centrists/independents find more palatable. Like the whole made up fentanyl bullshit about venezuela, then Trump came out and talked about how it's all for oil.

  • Naruto and I had to rescue Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy.

  • Just a heads up, you may wanna reconsider this well-intended comment because it kinda reads like you're suggesting that child abuse is top tier at first glance

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

A death prediction market would be a platform for crowdsourced assassinations

  • UK Politics @feddit.uk

Planned UK alcohol advertising restrictions dropped after complaints from Budweiser, Greene King, and Heineken
