  • Interestingly, SEATAC airport has started doing exactly that in (at least Concourse D). It's one big long hallway with sinks on one wall and floor-to-ceiling doors for the toilets. And a separate room off to the back with a sliding door for urinals. They've got enough toilets that wait times aren't too atrocious

  • This is more permanent than it could be...instead of being able to be undone via executive order, it would take an incredibly rare and twisted court ruling or an act of Congress. Neither is that unlikely, however repealing it won't be unilateral, and that means it'll take time and political capital.

  • There are a lot of things about the steam deck I respect, including that the only difference in price points is down to available storage, not performance. It really makes the device so much more accessible

  • Cancel culture only really is a thing when the person on the receiving end is capable of feeling the tiniest shred of embarrassment/remorse for what they've done (not being caught). People fade into obscurity when they get "cancelled" because the massive outcry from the public convinces them they can't ignore that what they're doing is wrong anymore. In the case of most fascist hucksters (as well as Mr Beast), they are incapable of seeing that what they've done is wrong, so they can never be convinced of the need to stop

  • As someone who has basically come to see "memecoin" and "scam" as synonyms, I have a hard time having any sympathy for anyone who puts money into this shit. Everyone knows that the endgame of every memecoin is for the creator to walk away with all the profit, right? Enough incidental people win a bit of money to keep everyone gambling that they can beat the scam, but everyone has to know that they're feeding the scam when they buy in, right?

  • Fellow New Mexican checking in; our food always incorporates a hatch chile sauce of one (or both) colors, and hot damn is it tasty! Having chile with every meal is probably the thing I miss about NM the most (after my parents, ofc). New Mexican food is its own category, separate from Mexican food.

  • Now, now, they didn't prove it's a scam. They just proved it would be cheaper and potentially safer to take out an illegal, maybe mafia backed payday loan to outright buy the equivalent computer. And you'd own the machine at the end of the day

  • Yeah but doesn't adding the extra flex cable to make it more frustrating to disassemble seem like just the sort of thing Apple would do to discourage user modifications? Apple doesn't like the kind of users who know how to tinker with and upgrade computers

  • I'll bet the author doesn't know how many operating nuclear reactor there are in very close proximity to quite a few major US cities, and there has not been a nuclear incident in over 60 years of the US NNPP.

  • Strictly speaking, the losing bidder offered more cash, but the victims families offered concessions in the amount of damages they'd seek as part of The Onions offer, which would bring the total value of The Onions offer to higher, and that's why they won.

I don't even know where to begin on this one

There are so many gems in this one, least of which are the bathrooms.
