  • For us, we have to watch the unskippable ad during Star Trek Picard, then it jumps back 10 minutes in the episode so we need to fast forward to get back to our place. This has been going on for several episodes.

  • Also, is there a way that we can see our own posts that have been marked as read? When I go to my profile, I see my total post # under my summary, but can’t see any when I select “posts”. Comments show up, but not posts.

I have found the only way to open my past posts is to save them.

I suspect that is a Lemmy issue, but would love to see it addressed in the app if possible.

  • I have noticed this too. I was very excited to have the “mark read on scroll” option added with the update yesterday.

However, as I am scrolling and marking posts read I have noticed that a lot of the posts that were marked read keep reappearing as unread. Not other instances, but the same posts.

Hard to capture this in the wild, but I will try to get images of this happening.

  • This happened to my Mom a few years ago in New Mexico. She was late 70s and immuno-compromised from cancer treatments. She ended up hospitalized on a ventilator due to meningitis resulting from the Listeria infection. She made it out OK, but it was very serious.

Best theory the Health Department had that it was from unpasteurized cheese.

Possible Bug: upvote a post when opened, no longer upvoted on timeline

This is the first time I’ve noticed this, but it seems to be happening regularly with the latest 0.5 Test flight:

    1. I open a post and see comments
    2. I upvote the post, number of upvotes goes up
    3. I swipe right to go back to my feed and see the post does not reflect my upvote.
  • Update: I figured out how to get the 2FA set up using my password manager. When I clicked the link on my Mac, it had an option to open the link in a different app, not just the password manager. I selected my password app (Bitwardern), which allowed me to assign the TOTP to the appropriate Lemmy account. Now I can use 2FA through Bitwarden.

  • Totally agree. Have found jobs through LinkedIn, but it’s timeline is 90% junk. Even the ads are so jargon filled that they are incomprehensible: “Improve your JEHSBN usage to ensure BENS compliance by purchasing XXYYZZ software!”

  • I agree about the mark read, but I understand that this should really be done on the Lemmy side.

The other Lemmy thing that is really tough to work with (not a Memmy issue) is how thoroughly Lemmy hides read posts, particularly my own posts. It is virtually impossible to see your own posts without going to Lemmy settings and changing the read posts setting. It seems to force the user to either scroll through old posts constantly or being blind to your own content.

Other than the hide read, I prefer Memmy. Love the design, themes, and option to open links in reader view.

EDIT: My other issue with Memmy is how pinch to zoom on images seems to be broken.

  • Is Fedia.io / Kbin federating correctly?

  • I have been comparing accounts on Kbin.social and Readit.buzz and find that the post don't populate/federate as well on the smaller instance. I generally feel like I am not getting all of the posts and certainly not all of the image previews on Readit as I get on social. I don't get the sense that a smaller Lemmy instance has the same problem, but I don't have a Lemmy.ml/Lemmy.world account, so i can't say for sure.

  • Took me a while to figure that one out! For some reason Lemmy hides your own posts too. My “solution” for this is to save each of my posts as it is posted, otherwise it disappears and I have no record of it unless someone comments or I unhide read posts.

Not hiding read posts is not an option for me— I don’t want to see the same stuff every time I look at Lemmy.

I’m waiting for 1) option to not hide my own posts and 2) mark read on scroll.

Memmy not zooming into images properly

Latest test Memmy version on iPhone 12 Pro. It is almost impossible to pinch and zoom. Seems like a bug. Will check on where the image was hosted.

I have set up 2FA many times on other sites, but I can’t get it to work on Lemm.ee.

What usually happens: when I set up 2FA I get either a QR code to scan into an authenticator app or a get a key code that I can manually enter into the authenticator app.

What happens with Lemm.ee: it gives me a link that opens my password preferences. Options include my password app and other password vaults. My authenticator app (2FAS Auth) is not an option. I have tried this on a Mac and iPhone, and have no luck getting it to allow me to add a 2FA in the authenticator.

Link starts with “otpauth://”. I tried adding the part of the link with a long code between “secret=” and “&algorithm” to the authenticator, but that did not seem give me the right 2FA and I couldn’t log in.

Does anyone have suggestions to on how to get from the otpauth link to an entry into an authenticator?

I have used many different 2FA, but the one for Lemm.ee doesn't work like any others I have used and I can't get it to work.

Usually, it gives you a QR code to scan into an authenticator or a code you can enter manually. However, the 2FA here is not like that. It gives a link that opens up passwords in my settings on my Mac or my iPhone. My authenticator is not included in the list.

Does anyone have ideas on how to get the 2FA to open in an authenticator app instead my password settings?
