  • Burning Wheel's Artha system has players create goals that are tied to their beliefs and related to their character's relationships and back stories. When one of these goals are achieved in game the player gains a large chunck of progression.

Small chunks of progression in that game work similarly to Skyrim: when attempting an action a character moves closer to improving their ability with that skill.

It is an excellent system that my playgroup returns to every few years.

  • Definitely, even better if you can try during a free weekend or get it half price on a sale.

Amazing with friends, on your own or with randos.

So many organic ways to interact and communicate with other players. Seriously cool, unique and worthwhile experience.

  • Sea of Thieves.

There has never and will never be any pay to win. Everyone has access to all weapons at any time, no unlocking, just pure skill.

Up to 4 players on your team (ship) open servers with other players all sailing around all the time. You can get in an organic fight over treasure, or matchmake for ranked battles.

All of the progression is cosmetic based.

The devs have been adding content constantly since launch that fleshes out the game systems and makes for more interesting interaction.

I come back to this game all the time. Highly recommend.

  • Single shot rifles are big winners on the PTS. All of the old damage bonuses from perks are built into the base weapons now. The damage perks you already have equipped will be renamed and help you do additional limb and weak point damage.

  • I play 76 all the time. I've been on and off it since beta.

I recommend joining the official discord group as well as AngryTurtle's discord group for friendly people to play with.

The game is in a really really good place right now. Lots of storylines, lots of endgame content, and the same great community the game has always had.

They are currently in the middle of a yearlong combat/perk rebalance with the next change (affecting all rifle/SMG/shotgun perks) due out in June.

    Some quick tips when levelling:

-Always join a casual team when first connecting to a server. There is no expectation that you group up with the people on your team and you will receive an INT bonus.

-When levelling up you can pick a different special point than the perk, and you can change the special point later at Perk Stations.

-Endgame crafting is dependent on learning plans and legendary affects. Learn all the cheap/free plans you can and SCRAP all legendary weapons and armor until you start getting level 50 gear.

-Join public events! They reward a lot of XP, unique plans and recipes, reputation (Eviction Notice and Moonshine Jamboree). If you see the Scorched Earth event you can avoid radiation using a hazmat suit.

-One of the best power armors in the game, Excavator is availability to craft very early, follow any guide online to learn the storyline.

Is Lemmy Federation with Aether possible?

Aether is a reddit alternative not dissimilar to Lemmy in that it is distributed and open source.

Some advantages to Aether over Lemmy are:

It is entirely decentralized rather than federated giving it superior censorship resistance and smooth horizontal scalability. Each user on the Aether network acts as a node operator allowing other users to connect and view the communities that they subscribe to.

Moderators within each community are elected by, are impeachable by, and their decisions can be individually ignored by the users of each community. All mod actions are public information and, as mentioned, each mod action or moderator can be ignored by each user. This maximizes the accountability of the network and greatly reduces the chances of censorship.

The biggest flaw with Aether is that it is not currently maintained (to my knowledge). With such a massive migration of users to Lemmy and the Fediverse as large, I would love to see an increased interest in decentralized solu

Can the Number of Federated Instances be Increased for Linux.community please?

At the moment there is slim pickings for other communities to join if this instance is chosen by a user to be their home server.

Presumably other instances have to approve linux.community federating with them before their subs can show up? Is it that this instance is new, or is there some other reason. u/nkukard can you chime in?

EDIT: A-ha! I was searching poorly! Once a member of a instance subscribes, it pulls it into that instance for easier discovery. Neat!
