Farewell RealDebrid

Following a formal notice from the FNEF (https://fnef.fr/les-adherents/), Real-Debrid is strengthening its anti-piracy measures. As you already know, we actively comply with DMCA and are already blocking a certain number of infringing torrents. In the coming hours: - audiovisual files available on a number of cyberlockers listed on the USTR blacklist or listed in the European "CCounterfeit and Piracy Watch List" will all be blocked. - a filtering by file name will also be applied, in accordance with the request of the FNEF, this may unfortunately lead to false positives that we will process manually. - a blocking of all torrents hashes of private torrent trackers mentioned in cases at the Paris judicial court - a complete purge of files potentially cached on the previously mentioned criteria - the deactivation of the API endpoint /instantAvaibility - a blocking of counterfeit Kodi / Stremio applications to the extent that they are identifiable

  • Simple Answer: No

The moment you need to think about what distribution you need to choose from is where it'll stop any (dumb)user. Most people want a simple process with very little thinking.

If you are interested in learning linux and willing to take the time to understand the entire process that comes with it then yes.

  • I was in a similar boat. Initially, I ran debian with docker but later on decided to check out unraid. It's pretty easy to get setup, and you have a lot of docker containers pre-configured, so you can just click and install. I have it notify me whenever something goes on with it, but outside of that, I don't tinker much with it.

Only two weird things about it though...

    1. You dont install unraid. Instead, you run it through a usb. More specifically, the usb has a specific config that'll then load everything to your memory.
    2. Recently, they redid their pay structure so not too familiar with the changes but you do have to pay for unraid.
  • Check out Tranga as a direct replacement to Kaizoku.

    Awesome, appreciate it.

  • I believe Tachiyomi was meant to download the manga and view it on Android?

    Correct

I forgot what Komga was, is it a downloader?

Similar to something like plex, jellyfin, kavita, etc. Its basically a manga media server. Not a Downloader

For downloading, I ended up trying out "kaizoku," which is unfortunately no longer maintained. Acts as a frontend for a service called "mangal," which seems to no longer be maintained as well... Does the job for some websites at least.

  • The initial pitch will require ID to access porn but then it'll branch out to any site that hosts NSFW content. Before you know it, every website you access will end up having your internet activities directly tied to you via your ID, and they can further use that data to train whatever models they got cookin up next.

  • Wish we could just implement some form of federal standards that are aimed towards protecting US citizens' data instead of just banning a service like tiktok because "China bad".

  • Try things out. Get an old pc with some old hard drives no one will want and get to it!

Just install whatever on it and start asking yourself what you want to do with it.

I started on Ubuntu Server and ended up on Unraid. Caused alot of problems along the way but in the end I learned alot to where I dont stress too much when stuff goes south.

Also, when you truly do invest into a proper server. Consider the drives you are buying are gonna die one day. It may take years to happen but it will happen!

  • For syncing to multiple devices, I would recommend syncthing. Was pretty easy to set up and haven't had any issues.

  • Friend got a bsod today and was able to get more dumpfiles.

Used blue screen view and they all essentially are caused by ntoskrnl.exe

  • Alright, next time I talk with him I'll look into it. Appreciate it.

Past Year Friends PC Keeps Crashing/BSOD and Cant Figure Out Why

I'll briefly summarize and then go into more detail on what ive tried. Build

TLDR; I've separated most of the parts into a separate build and did various tests for all them to be running as they should. Due to this, I believe that the issue may be caused by whatever he is connecting to the PC. Just wanted another perspective on the matter so I know that I covered all bases.

    In depth...

Issue first started on Windows 10 and when his games began to crash I immediately assumed it to be the gpu. In response we did DDU, reinstalled drivers and games continued to crash. Ended up resetting Windows 10 entirely but again games continued to crash.

It's not on the build, but he has a WD Blue 1tb HDD and later got a WD 10tb HDD beca

    It's joever | Tachiyomi

    Sucks...

    tl;dr

Tachiyomi will no longer be actively developed. It may continue to work for you for the foreseeable future but there will be no support for it nor the official extensions.

  • Gotta consider users on windows download random programs and blindly follow an installation wizard.

  • I can't imagine Hamas being the sole reason behind this decision. Of course at face value it is but feels like they are taking this opportunity to do this for some other reason.

Terrible nonetheless but worried about what else is to happen due to this.

  • I sold phones for several years. ALOT of people have no idea how to do even the first step of what you said. The process was always sell, transfer, wipe, and turn in. Transfer would require a passcode many times while going through the process, and customers would often tell you it to make the process easier. From young to old, they all need help doing that "easiest" thing.

  • Jesus, as someone with the og ps4 im just now learning this. TIL i guess.

  • Waste of money. Why not compete with the switch/steamdeck? Make the remote play an option like you've done in the past. A digital ps5 is $400 and the portal is $200. I'm paying $600 and can't take the device anywhere. Steamdeck starts at $400 and the switch is $300. Hell, I can install remote play on the steam deck and do the same thing the portal does. Sucks this is how sony is getting back into "portable" gaming.

  • Philip Defranco's team asked...

"What are your thoughts on members of the community feeling this initial controversy wasn't taken seriously due to jokes about store plugs, kicks to sponsores, and the video addressing the situation being monetized?"

    And LMG responded...

"We're LMG. Even when our content is serious, we have elements of fun in it. This has always been our style and we wanted to send a message to our community that just because the suits are talking about workflows and processes, the fun isn't going away."

I get what they were trying for, but it didn't work out at all. This was the ONE time they should've been serious the entire video.

  • Whats the email? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • Honestly, I'm ok with it. Piracy shouldn't be something that anyone can see. More something people find after looking for it. Yes there is the con to having less users but the more users we have the more risk we take on.

  • It's funny how everyone said they would give up on netflix once the whole password sharing was tossed out, but here we are with netflix hitting higher numbers and no one leaving. Every streaming service out there is gonna follow the same practice since it'll make them more money. If you dont agree with how they are doing things, then leave. It's the only way to influence their decisions.
