  • I have been trying to get my own mastodon instance up and running behind traefik this weekend

I maneged to get it up and running yesterday, but I get some permission errors when trying to upload like a profile image etc.

I found a few issues that sort of mentioned permission errors, but they suggested running chown in the container, which is not possible, and running chown on the linked volume, which looks like an empty folder, and it didn't solve the issue.

Hoping to fix it when I get back home later.

It's nice to have something to fiddle with as the world is falling apart around you.

Show Lemmy: swallow.hair - a random instance generator

I have had this as a go-to project to maintain interest, while having to learn new technologies and frameworks. But i decided to try and run a version.

Users are presented with a random scraped line of text and a random image. Context is everything, and depending on how damaged your brain is, you can interpret things from the presented context.

A user can then choose to “save” / “bookmark” an instance, and it is saved both locally in the browser, and remote on the server.

Other users can then see the saved bookmarked instance, sorted by either new or popular and provide a “like” or a give a fairly meaningless predetermined “reaction” to an instance.

It is a bit of a silly project, but it can be kind of entertaining, if you have a dark sense of humor.
