Dogs can't read

  • I'm Gen Z and my fathers are boomers... Making fun of our situation as a "First time? We had it much worse than you!" just feels horrible, I'm sick of this kind of conversation were we are being more divided because of "differences between generations" when the problem is a bunch of assholes who had a great time in a great economy making present look like hell and then blaming us for that, it's not about "generations", it's about abuse.

  • That happened to me in the reddit exodus, I switched to Lemmy and faced a lot of analysis paralysis, ended up in Lemmy.world out of spite and then I regretted my decision.

So yeah, in my experience it's bad UX design, it felt like gatekeeping tbh.

  • Thanks for the detailed description, I was actually planning to replace my ISP's router with pfsense/opnsense (I still don't know which one to choose) so knowing that I can block them from accessing the internet completely gives me some peace of mind.

  • I know the project and the work they do is excellent, but I had read that it is not “production ready” and I was looking for something that was more set it and forget it, but I could be wrong, I know practically nothing about it.

Security and privacy concerns with Ubiquiti devices

I've been looking to improve the home network in my home lab. It seems that Ubiquiti has everything I could want in their various products.

However, it seems too good to be true. How much snooping does the router/firewall/APs do on my traffic? If you have a similar case, what has been your experience with Ubiquiti?

  • It wasn't created by AI, I'm just a newbie to networking and was pretty tired, at this point I spent ~4 hours on this problem 😅.

I tried everything, the VMs can ping each other but not the nodes, and the VM can mount and see the NFS share but the nodes can't.

The mount is correct because I've configured it before and it worked, and if I change the network device of the VMs to vmbr1 instead of VlanNet (the SDN) it works again, thanks for your time ^^

    Edit: Typo

Having some issues in Proxmox trying to learn SDNs

I am learning how to configure SDNs and I have created a VLAN that has a bridge vmbr1 in my node with ip 10.0.0.1/8, the VMs (10.0.1.2/8 & 10.0.1.3/8) can communicate correctly between them, but I have TrueNAS in one of them with a NFS share in which I store my ISOs and I can not get my host node (the one that is 10.0.0.1/8 in vmbr1) to communicate with that NFS share.

Is there something I have misconfigured or is it that the VMs inside an SDN cannot communicate with the node host?

Edit: The VMs can ping each other but not the nodes, and the VM 1 can mount and see the NFS share (VM 2) but the nodes can't.

The mount is correct because I've configured it before and it worked, and if I change the network device of the VMs to vmbr1 instead of VlanNet (the SDN) it works again.

AirVPN vs Mullvad which should I use?

I am thinking about changing VPN, I am currently using ProtonVPN and I was thinking about changing to AirVPN (for its prices and port forwarding) or Mullvad (Everyone says it is better regarding privacy but I don't know why).

Which one would you recommend and why? I have seen a lot of criticism towards AirVPN for being based in Italy, but if they don't collect the data as they say they do, there shouldn't be any problem, right?

    Is Instander dead?

Hi, I used to use Instander to browse Instagram privately but it doesn't seem to be updated anymore, is there an alternative that you recommend that has similar features? Like "ghost mode" when watching stories
