  • As someone who has been active in left activism for decades, I've come to have a visceral reaction to use of the word "community". In my experience, it has come to mean, "Our liberal ComMMuNiTY will exploit your injustice sensitivity for labor, and then drop you as a weirdo as soon as we don't need you."

  • Sounds like therapy might be in your future, Lostinlove.

  • "Launched on Reddit"

Pretty sure it's made out of the hollowed-out remains of a 2016 Bernie PAC? Not sure where I read that, though.

  • Imagine there's a biblical plague-like amount of rain over weeks in a very red state like Alabama. The locals say it probably hasn't rained this much in that time span in 100s of years. Scientists say the rain might be a one in 1,000 year event. And then there are a few ginormous mudslides that coincidentally happens in a way that kill more than 100 people.

Already happened in WNC, and the Republican response was that the hurricane was created/controlled by Democrats using Jewish Space Lasers to kill off Republican voters. That might get old after a few more super-storms, though.

  • Yee haw, and fuck the law.

  • Well, they're always saying they'd vote for Obama a third time if they could.

  • Mineclonia is in general trying to be very close in features and gameplay to Minecraft, though not identical. Voxelibre has moved away from that goal, trying to distinguish itself from Minecraft.

  • And they've already reversed the suspension, unsurprisingly. Stopping the flow of treats from Shein and Temu would be something people would actually care about.

  • I know the law allows the president to add more sites sithout further legislation; could they force the major app stores to remove XHS?

  • Mockup looks like a Decepticon Seeker's Cybertronian alt form.

  • Ah, but he lost in the right way: campaigning nationally instead of the state he was running in, and thereby raising record amounts of campaign funds to pay into the pockets of DNC-associated consulting firms.

  • Land and houses aren't private property unless you're renting them out. If they aren't a financial asset, they're just personal property.

Businesses are an interesting question? The Federation, or at least its core worlds, doesn't use money (by the 24th century). The only business we see onscreen, on a Federation core world, as far as I can remember, is Sisko's Creole Kitchen. If there's no money, why does Joseph Sisko run it? My guess is to maintain the tradition of Creole cuisine, to perfect his skills as a chef, to meet and interact with guests, and to preserve an historic New Orleans building by keeping it in use. Is it private property? Does he own it? He owns the business in some abstract sense, but the building? Probably not. I'd expect he holds it in trust in some kind of legal arrangement with the city, but there's really no onscreen evidence.
