  • Except the carbon footprint of Starlink is estimated to be 30x greater than terrestrial alternatives.

More than half of all satellites in space are already Starlink at around 5,000, with 12,000 planned in the near future and up to 42,000 as a later expansion.

    It's just not sustainable.

  • ReVanced can patch most of the popular apps with your own private (free to use) API key.

Step by step guide if you're interested

I'm sure Reddit is seeing private key usage sky rocketing on their end since ReVanced released these patches. Whether or not Reddit chooses to do anything about it remains to be seen, but I can't help but wonder how long it will last.

Nowadays I still stick with Lemmy for general scrolling and only go to Reddit for my niche subreddits that don't have active equivalents here.

  • I mean, it's not usual to find more modern books at a thrift store. Yeah a lot of them are old, but newer ones are there.

Even among the old ones there are some that are sought after, like Betty Crocker's Cooky Book. Best snickerdoodles of my life.

  • On Android, former Relay for Reddit user.

Right now I have SEVEN lemmy apps on my home screen as I figure out which I like best. So far I keep going back to Sync the most.

Boost's animations suck. It takes too long to show the post list after swiping away an image and the whole screen goes black, it's a bit jarring.

Liftoff works well but it's ugly.

Jerboa isn't very customizable and the post list doesn't feel dense enough.

Voyager literally does not tell you what instance the community you're viewing is on.

I haven't touched Thunder in a while but I see they've updated quite a bit with a lot more customization. I remember older versions being nice, so I'll give it a try again.

Connect is about the same as Liftoff, works well but kinda ugly. Admittedly not as ugly though.

  • Porcelain usually isn't glazed and is made from a finer particulate clay allowing it to be smooth and non porous on its own. It's the cheaper ceramics that rely on the glaze to be water proof that are prone to this problem.

If your dishes aren't getting unusually hot in the microwave then they're fine.

  • I'm glad you're optimistic but warming has a roughly 40 year delayed effect and we're already seeing changes. Even if by some magic we halted all emissions, and I mean ALL, we'd still be warming into the 2060s.

The only way to make the 1.5c target would be a massive investment in carbon capture and huge reduction in carbon emissions.

I just don't see it happening. I don't see the world even trying until it's too late.

Some of this delayed effect has been debated, but we ought to consider the cascading effects as well.

  • The other day I launched an old game and got met with an error, something about directX9 and missing a redistributable file or something. Decided not to fuck with it.

Yesterday I launched it again to take a closer look at the error message to see if I could fix it. No error message, game booted without issues.

    My confusion.
