In the remote African country of Mauritania, our trio follow in the footsteps of the legendary Paris-Dakar rally. Instead of bespoke Dakar racers, the boys must complete their journey in cheap modified sports cars. Their journey begins with the world’s longest train and sees them tackle the killer S...

Economic growth is optimized by beginning a proxy war with China.
But where? Taiwan seems the obvious candidate. Not sure if that would really lead to (short term) economic growth though.

Seems like rather similar options to me?
But I have to admit to never having used either anyway.

there is an estimation i saw about the development cost of Breath of the Wild, at somewhere between 80 and 120 million USD. Breath of the Wild was 4 years in Development, Tears of the Kingdom spent 6 years in Development.
above 120 million for Tears of the Kingdom doesn't seem unreasonable.
Mario Movie was 100 Million.
Anyway, both are stupidly profitable for Nintendo

How does crossplay in shooters work?
are controllers genuinely competetive to mouse and keyboard?
Remnant 2 seems to be cooperative? So at worst console / controller players are less of a help?

As of August 6, 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed $574.2 million in the United States and Canada, and $779.3 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.355 billion.
[Tears of the Kingdom] sold more than 10 million copies in its first three days of release, and had sold over 18.5 million copies by June 2023.
at 69.99 a game, would mean the total volume sold is roughly $1.295 billion, 60 million less than the Super Mario Movie.
I'm not certain if the movie gross is the same calculation though. It seems that the calculation is fair But data for Tears of the Kingdom is about a month older so that it seems possible it passed The Super Mario Movie by now.

what's the difference between box86 and FEX-Emu?

watch astartes (warhammer 40k)

damn, right.
i totally forgot about those, and assumend the mix-up of room temperature and "high-temperature", because "high" is very relative and confused me as well.

yeah, it doesn't destroy anything on the worldwide scale.
but it weakens.
erosion is a rather perfect term for it

interesting, as her service is illegal.
but well deserved, as it clearly shouldn't be.

room temperature superconductors don't exist. (well... when/if this paper turns out to be bullshit)
High Temperature Superconductors do, and refer to the fact that they can be cooled with liquid nitrogen, and do not require liquid helium.

Firefox will most likely support this, if it doesn’t want to get cut off from most of the web.
well, if more people used Firefox websites couldn't just throw them under the bus, which is why I said it's so important.
We'll have to see, but I'd hope Firefox puts up at least some resistance.

depends how the loans worked.
I was assuming his majority shares of X (ex Twitter) collateral.
And that that he could just go "yeah, go on, collect on your collateral, I don't mind", because it's not worth anything anymore.
But admittedly I have no Idea how the contracts were drawn up, if this is possible and if his other money would be available to collect on.

Several players have said they’ll exit the UK rather than exit encryption.
rightly so.
I'd assume any worldwide player couldn't be caught in compliance with this, as long as alternatives exist that don't.
This might have been enough to push EU people away from WhatsApp for example.

I mean, imagine if non-british companies just went "well, no encryption for you, then."
And disabled TLS too.
Online Banking would probably just have to... stop.
And a lot of other pages wouldn't load on most browsers requiring https

They are not donating, if I remember correctly fairly recently Microsoft outbid them and bing was default for a bit.
But maybe I'm not remembering correctly tbh.

Depends.
If he thinks Twitter is irreperably dying, this may be a way, in which he can get out of repaying the loans he used to (partially) fund the buyout of twitter.

yeah, well, even the @twitter account now has the X logo.

x.com redirects to twitter.com as well.
Wonder if Businesses will replace the twitter logo in their windows as well.

With Ukraine being a breadbasked, I wonder how many fields are unusable.
probably lots. That sucks for a lot of people.

Looking for a nesting KanBan Board Program
Hi there, I'm looking for a KanBan Program which allows me to nest Boards.
So I want to have one master-Board, on which the general large-scope tasks are, a lot of those tasks should be their own boards full of subtasks though.

Discussion for S06E01
Hey there, I won't be watching this for a few hours, but if you already have, feel free to start discussing S06E01 of Black Mirror!
What did you like?
What didn't you like?
Did the writers make any mistakes?
How do you think you would have handled the situation?
Personally I fear this episode may be continuing on the trail of Black Mirror episodes that didn't quite finish their thought experiment, and thus fail to reach logical conclusions.
I'm looking forward to answering my own questions, maybe I'll get to it tonight

Black Mirror Season 6 dropped today

Twisted tales run wild in this mind-bending anthology series that reveals humanity's worst traits, greatest innovations and more.

Prusa Mini issues with very slow extrusion
Hi there, I've been having a little trouble printing models with my MINI+, when there is very low extrusion between retractions. The Extruder grinds the filament through, and then the filament in the hotend burns until it gets stuck as well.
It usually only happens when I print extremely fine things like DnD (2") miniatures at .05mm layer height.
For now I've switched to .15mm layer height and have not had the issues since, but I wonder if there's something that could be done, except changing the Extruder/Hotend?

Looking for a Browser to manage Web-Apps better, needs to spawn multiple instances limited to domains
Hi there, I'm looking for a Browser that lets me open it multiple times in multiple instances (each showing up in multitasking), a Browser limited to lets say wikipedia, one that's limited to imdb, one for lemmy etc.
And if I hit a link from Wikipedia to Wikipedia in the Wikipedia browser it should open in the same instance.
But if I open a Link to something else, it should open in a different instance (or a single general one)
I'd also like each of them to have an individual home screen button.
Is there something like that?
