  • I mean, it sounds like he's profoundly depressed which was an ongoing thing for him before his stroke. To be clear, you can be any awful evil person AND depressed lol

He does not have to keep being a senator, he can resign any time citing health concerns or whatever. He's doing this all to himself and I guess the dems have to reap those consequences because no one wants to lean on him to just fucking go already (cause otherwise they'd have even fewer senators even though the only critical thresholdsare 49 and 39 to at least get to filibuster)

  • The senator is doom scrolling in a dark office

  • You only get to do the neoliberal turn once. You get one Clinton, one Blair, one whoever. That's it.

  • Yooooo Beanis!!! I haven't seen you in... God what has it been... 13 years?? So good to see ya, how's the wife and kids

  • It's a tough competition

Have you ever used a dead rat as an alarm clock because when the light hit it long enough it stank enough to wake you from your slumber. Or did you wipe your rotten bleeding gums blood on the walls.

  • The change in mass, electric charge, angular momentum are the only things that are detectable after the apple crosses the black hole - no hair theorem. As far as we know, no quantum information is recoverable. We don't actually, like, see the apple ever cross the event horizon it's a whole weird thing. The event horizon conceals all events from the interior of the black hole from the rest of the universe - we never see anything about the center of the black hole or any part inside it, ever. It's all cut off.

The additional mass that changes how much additional force there is due to gravity is communicated at the speed of light, no faster.

There are interesting theories about black hole holography, universe holography brane vs bulk stuff, whatever.

  • It's not even a Trump thing, brokering then breaking agreements has been a US thing since at least the 90s and arguably at least post WW2.

The current trump quixotic contrarianism is certainly a new version of it, especially how naked it is, but it ain't new per se.

  • I mean, some stuff, I'd pay my debts, buy a house, and probably get facial feminization surgery. But like, thats my big ticket items.

  • We talked about what we'd all do if we won the lottery at work. A lot of people just want leisure and never to work, a couple wanted to open a Cafe, another person just wanted to paint for the rest of her life. I actually would probably still be doing the same job, it'd be nice to not worry about money anymore though!

  • I don't read anything except Hegel and Marx and Lenin and a handful of others

I ddnt ecen read this comment

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a very good and dear partner for you.

Losing someone that close is very painful, like being haunted by their ghost, because you knew them so well. Their absence is palpable, or like your shadow.

Life can be so cruel and senseless. Cancer can take those who did everything "right." As for the bell ringing ritual, I did a stint in oncology and its something we've all talked about because of course... not everyone makes it and it can hurt to see the people ring the bell when your loved one didn't. I don't know what it's worth, but some people also ring the bell when they've chosen to be done with chemo - not because they're in remission but because they're ready to stop.

The food you ate, the comfort even if it was frozen food or snacks, that all meant a lot to you and her. They're also moments of joy and moments you grew together. Earting them can stay in the time you had with her and maybe come back when you're ready to try them again.

Grieve. Feel bitter. Be sad. Cry. Do it with others and alone. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

  • In Canada, we have a chronic shortage of blood products. It is illegal to sell or solicit the sale of body parts - which includes plasma but even surrogacy can't be for pay or gifts.

But we still import blood products from the US, which I guarantee has plenty of poor peoples' blood in it.

  • They has to wait an entire fraction of a second to watch their precious content

  • Can't believe they used up the political energy on normalizing the r word instead of the c word if they were gonna go through all the effort. Could've fit in with the Strayans and Brits

  • If anything, himbo is the more appropriate class - but stupidity and naivity transcends gender. All are born stupid, naive, and mewling

  • Truly a dividing line in history.

August 1914, "the lamps are going out in Europe and I fear they will not turn on in our lifetime"

September 1945, Japanese Emperors unconditional surrender following Soviet declaration of war

May 1968, "Soyez réalistes, demandez l'impossible." Ironically what seemed to be the drawing of the curtain on socialism in western Europe for another generation

September 2001, I mean it's still a watershed lol, clear divide between what came before and after

June 2015, Trump descends the golden staircase and does the bizarre Mexico is sending drugs and they're sexual abusers speech

  • It's a meme for a reason but vegans get stuck eating a lot of french fries when people go out.

There is a restaurant/bar in the city I used to live in, very punk and a little dive bar-ish. Anyway, their menu was full vegan but you'd never guess and it isn't advertised as such. I only figured it out when I realized none of their food had any animal stuff, like not the cheese sticks (it was vegan cheese) nothing.
