  • This is the tiniest little blip. Sure Bezos will take note, but they’re just going to jack up prices for the tarrifs. What will become of people who can’t afford all their cheap Chinese junk? If they get to vote in a couple years we MIGHT see some action taken.

  • I kinda prefer it that way. Leave me the fuck out of this bullshit. I’m not stepping on necks the way Boomers did but I’m also old and tired enough that it’s not going to be me leading the charge for change. I’ll deal with my own PDFs.

  • Because 'luxury' is a sliding scale. A lot of dudebros spend 100k+ on 'trucks' that have never seen dirt, let alone hauled anything. An acquaintance of mine has a V12 Jaguar that he has lovingly coddled back from the dead by sheer will and a LOT of late nights in his meager garage. He's just to the positive side of 'poor' but that car is his fun-money-entertainment (doesn't have kids or a GF at the moment).

  • Nebraska is actually more blue than you might think. Also, it’s pretty assured that Democrats are showing up to town halls and making their voices heard. They’re EVERYONE’S rep no matter their party affiliation.

    Treasure trove of resistance ideas

A Reddit user has created (and continues to update) a treasure trove of ideas and concepts that are easy to chose from in ways to fight the current US administration, including many things this community would hold dear.

  • I have certainly heard of Weyerhauser, but had no idea they were that big. They're the only 'individual' owner shown. The land-owning families is odd as I'm sure it overlaps a lot with pasture and private timberland.

Texas rolling blackouts, rinse and repeat!

Here's your twice-annual warning! Texas' power grid can't handle cold OR hot! Has anyone tried cutting taxes and banning people from bathrooms? That'll probably make this better.

Texas asks people to stop driving their cars LOL

Because riding my bike 11 miles to work in 95 degree heat with unhealthy air to breathe is totally an option! I'd rather take my mega-bro-dozer pickup, in case I need to buy 1000lbs of mulch... /Sarc

    Creating a Community issue?

Is the community creation causing issues for anyone else at the moment? I've been trying for a few hours now to create a community, but I'm suffering the spinning wheel forever. I'm assuming that it's just overloaded server, but in case someone has a hint, I'd appreciate it!

    DFW Toddler Resources

My wife and I have a toddler and a newborn. I figure a thread on play-places, parks and kid-friendly events is a good idea :)

Even though malls are dying, we take the kids to play at

~Willow Bend - Half dead mall. Playplace is nice, but ratio of climb-ables to space means this one is better suited to running around than play.

~ Lewisville (music city). 80% dead mall. A couple small slides for the littles, and a big climbing gym for the bigger kids. Usually quite a bit quieter than any other mall, and you can generally let the littles run wild in the mall halls as it's so dead.

~ Stonebriar - fairly thriving mall. Playplace is PACKED with climbable stuff (almost too packed) and fairly small, especially for how busy it gets at times.

~ Prestonwood Church - Play place is free and not at a mall! Really better for kids out of the toddler stage.
