  • You realise all of those adverbs are subjective in themselves as they a led by the terms "feature aspects of" and "tends". There is no definition that specifies in exact terms because each political sphere is different. Even your final definition has a prediction embedded which is impossible to prove.

  • Far rightwing is a subjective view. What is far right in most west countries is nothing on the scale of some 3rd world nations.

  • Individuals covered it up. They should serve a lot of time for what they did to a lot of people's lives. Many innocent people were accused convicted and livelihoods destroyed. Labour really need to look at this once in power. It is a massive disgrace.

  • No, I am talking about the government collecting data with the intention of using it to campaign for office.

  • Labour didn't do anything about back then because it was not an issue.

    Data farming is a fairly recent abuse. The Tories have just pushed two laws: one was the right to view any bank accounts that are receiving benefits and the other is the right to send spam mail out while campaigning. The first is an abuse towards those without money, as well as a data farming action. The second is what the Cambridge Analytica scandal was about.

    This is very much a Tory driven initiative. Labour probably won't address the issue because it is not visibly destructive. Everything will be about appearance when they come to power. Anything that the Tory media can get hold of to stain the Labour government will be pushed front and centre. Much like the beergate campaign was.

  • The government is on the take. It is open season on anyone not donating to the Tories.

  • what a stupid attitude to have. Boomers did not get anything more than they deserved. You should be asking for the same. It should not be a race to the bottom. The rich are getting richer at your expense: work out who you should be bitching at.

  • ok. Seems you answered that one for him.

  • It would probably be better if you said the game that you wanted to do this with.

    and

    Private is subjective. Do you mean as solo play or with friends. Most games have options to cover both instances.

  • I think we have all seen that there is no guarantees with politics these days. So no, that is not an option if I want to remove the Tories. Give me PR voting then I will vote for what I want, rather than what I don't want, which is the case currently.

  • In your opinion. Most of the world has a different opinion. I wont bother responding to your alternate account. Seriously, using two accounts to barrack a differing opinion, sigh.

    You state a lot of BS while providing absolutely no evidence to give it any credit, other than your bias towards the west. What links does this guy have to "wired" or the many other media sources that show exactly what is going on in China.

  • They literally have 9 parties

    Does dissuade from the fact that only Communist-party backed candidates can appear in the election. This was the reason there were so many rioters in HK. And hence, why so many were imprisoned or ran from the country for asylum elsewhere.

    That propaganda:

    Propaganda is a made up narrative to persuade an objective viewpoint. What is happening with Uighurs has a lot of factual video evidence, including first hand reports from those who fled to Türkiye. If it is so untrue why won't China allow visiting diplomats talk about it?

    is old news that was abandoned when the area opened up for tourism again, and there were magically no camps

    Unbelievably crass opinion. https://www.wired.com/story/xinjiang-uyghur-culture-tourism/

    Talking to locals about the camps was impossible. “You can’t really talk to them, because then you’re putting them in danger,” Wack says. “If you mention anything political, they cut the conversation short.” Because he couldn’t visit the camps themselves, he was forced to suggest their presence by documenting how the region has changed. For decades, the Communist Party has been trying to eliminate markers of Uyghur identity and remake Xinjiang so that it appears more “Chinese.” As part of the Belt and Road Initiative, the government has been building major infrastructure projects like high-speed trains and superhighways through the remote province. It has also encouraged Han Chinese, the country’s dominant ethnic group, to move to the area in order to dilute the percentage of Uyghurs living there.

  • Notice how you didn’t include any evidence of Xi being a dictator

    Aside from the fact that no one is allowed to run for elections unless they have party approval. China doesn't even try to hide that there is no real democracy there.

    Proving incompetence is a higher bar than at will employment actually

    Subjective.

    They materially don’t.

    Again subjective.

    China isnt involved in carrying out a genocide rn, and China hasn’t destabilized the middle east through mass violence. China is better.

    Come on. Uighurs must surely count as human beings. That is just plain wrong man.

  • Hitler's party was elected in, much like the UK prime minister is not actually elected. Hitler still had to win a seat in the Reichstag, so.....

    Putin is a dictator. No one is allowed to stand against him. In the current election the 29 candidates who have tried to stand have had that right taken away from them for one reason or another. Putin has the final say on what goes on in Russia. Putin and Xi may have the illusion of being recalled, but it will not happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either spouting propaganda or one very gullible individual.

    I can easily believe that the GOP are creating problem for the LBGQT community, but they are soon to be ousted from any power they posses. Many of the gerrymandering that has gone on has been reversed or will be in time for the next elections. In NY state alone this will be enough to overturn the lead the GOP has on blocking legislation.

    As for the "at will employment" law China has exactly the same thing.

    The reasons for dismissal with prior notice, which are not attributable to the faults of the employee, include incompetence even after training or a transfer of position, non-work-related illness, and a change in the objective circumstances on which the labour contract was originally concluded.

    Where the incompetance is discretionary then there is little an employee can do to protect himself.

    The USA has National anti discrimination laws, China has no discriminatory laws, but also has nothing to protect an individual.

    So your idea that China is a better place to be doesn't really hold water in my opinion. Yes, there are some republican states that are making things hard, but this is a very short lived episode in US politics imo.

  • Since 2020 China literally has more workplace protections for trans people than the US

    So does this mean China has better protection ? This is not a valid comment unless they are both starting from the same point.

    Also Xi isn’t a dictator. He was literally elected by a democratic assembly.

    Adolf Hitler was elected, as was Putin. All are essentially the sole control of their countries. Being a dictator is not summarised by the method you gain power; it is what you do with that power after it obtained.

  • The more damage the Tories do to the country the longer it is going to take to repair. Its not rocket science.

  • I live in a very Labour dominant area. My MP is a total waste of space. I am going to pinch really tight on my nose when I vote the next time around.

  • It should be made a criminal offence to deliberately destroy government records. There needs to be an emphasis that they need to take active steps to protect those records. this lot are taking the piss.

    The last paragraph just about sums it all up.

    The choice is Labour’s, to go on trying to secure narrow, shallow and occasional FPTP victories on policies only acceptable to those who want nothing to change, especially on climate, or mobilise and build the progressive majority that exists in our country. Infrequent, weak single party government or strong progressive alliances most of the time? The flick of a switch in terms of how we count votes is a game changer for progressives and the planet.

    I don't want a system that relies on the least worst option. This system is low hanging fruit for abusive regimes with a war chest to spend on campaigns.

    George Monbiot Calls Out Tories Over Rwanda Immigration Policy! - Max Robespierre Youtube

    LFF also claimed the cost of this scheme has hit £290m so far. This is near £3m per head of any potential victim removed from the UK. It does not include the cost of the liabilities built into the scheme for anyone coming from Rwanda back into the UK in the swap scheme.

    An immense waste of tax payer's money, and a wholly barbaric policy, on what is nothing more than political games to con the public.

    Link to the poll mentioned.

    A good break down of the other polls done by Yougov on this subject by youtuber Phil Moorhouse.

    My personal opinion is that Labour do not want to talk about Brexit until they can stop the Tory media telling lies on the subject. We will only get one shot at reversing this fiasco, so they want to get it right. With Labour I agree on this. Let it lie until we can have some actual facts on the matter. Any discussions with current media throwing in their bias is swayed by those who have pocketed billions from the Misery imposed over Brexit.

    This chart perfectly sums up how badly the Tories have ruined the economy

    Article link

    While Jeremy Hunt was keen to portray an optimistic picture of his autumn statement, bragging about tax cuts and how he was ‘growing the economy’, even though the facts show otherwise, new analysis has revealed just how bad it’s got for households under the Tories.

    Analysis by the Resolution Foundation has revealed that this Parliament is set to be the worst on record for household income growth. The think tank found that incomes are projected to fall by 3.1 per cent from December 2019 to January 2025.

    It said in its report: “That makes this the only Parliament that has seen an overall decline in real household incomes (the next worse being that of 2015-17, which saw growth of 1.0 per cent).”

    The below chart illustrates just how bad this Parliament is for household income growth. So much for the Tories being the party of sound finances.

    Being banned with no accountability

    I took a 2 month ban from worldnews@lemmy.ml

    There was no message to say a ban had been applied. I messaged a mod to say I had trouble posting and asked if there was a ban applied. I got no response.

    I eventually spotted there is a modlog, and low and behold it mentions I was banned for 2 months for antisemitism. I have to say I found this appalling.

    When I dug further it turns out that I gave a reply to someone asking why the phrase "from the river to the sea" is considered antisemitic. I replied that is considered as referring to the genocide of the Jews in Israel. I gave a newspaper article link that showed a Labour MP who was removed from the party for using the quote.

    The comment has been deleted, there was no information given regarding the ban, there is no point of reference to contest the ban. It is crass beyond belief. I am extremely insulted that someone gets to label me antisemitic for something that is very evidently not, and then hide b

    Politics news - live: PM to set out next steps after 'massive blow' to immigration policy - as poll reveals what public thinks

    Asked what the government should do in response to the Supreme Court ruling.

    • 29% say the government should pursue a similar agreement with a different country;
    • 39% say the government should scrap the policy;
    • 14% say they should do something else;
    • 18% say they don't know

    Asked if the UK should remain a member of the European Convention on Human Rights:

    • 51% said the UK should remain a member;
    • 28% say the UK should withdraw;
    • 21% say they are not sure.

    30% of the country are idiots who will jump under any racist banner they can find. They have absolutely no idea what they are signing up to. A more pertinent poll would be to ask if they understood the ECHR and what it does.

    The ECHR is a higher court than we hold in the UK for a reason. It is where you hold government to account. Without the ECHR the tragedy of the Hillsborough disaster would still be blaming the Liverpool fans, and there would be no accountability.
