We're all fucked, aren't we?
The future is unpredictable.
Western liberal democracy, once touted as the pinnacle of governance, is starting to swing towards reactionary thinking and economic stagnancy as the realization that the easy looting of the past 40 years is coming to an end. - The world has entered a state of flux - Out of that, however, I've seen a change in peoples attitudes as they realize that politics is not something they can ignore. Consider this: our enemies are making it increasingly obvious just how evil they are. Every time the chuds get the warm fuzzies from the latest truly heinous world event, somewhere, people are starting to realize that their liberal understanding of the world is very very flawed. Previously, I thought we'd just barely carry the torch through an age of stability, remaining fringe weirdos clasping the stale arguments of last century's class-conflict.
Now I think that actually, people will find their way to aligning with us as they scramble to higher ground trying to avoid drowning in fascism.
Modern life can be extremely isolating, and that isolation will become dangerous in a world that keeps going the way it is going. Make friends. Build support networks. As the tide rises we will find new comrades. Be ready to find islands of safety. Be ready to help pull people to safety.
Feddit has no obligation to submit to a supreme court ruling. The Feddit admins simply have no intention of preventing transphobia on their instance. Either they agree with it, or they're too weak to stop it.
On Hexbear we have a fantastic melange of people who would be banned on sight in other instances purely because of their country of origin. I value that global scale bubble.
Unfortunately when the varying opinion is whether or not our trans users should be harassed, there's no room for open mindedness. We just can't take the risk with instances who's admins are lax on protections we enjoy here. If you find things that are posted here interesting, I'd suggest making an account.
Many people have recently.
Brilliant idea. I'm sure he'll be the first to sign up to work for the council or the police for free.
Imagine the outcry if this had happened in a real democracy, like Venezuela.
Ukraine is starting to topple, and the US has to ensure the right sort of people maintain control of whatever is left.
Who would win in a coup, the depleted conscript armed forces, or well armed, ideological paramilitaries with outside funding and direction?
These weapons are the kind of thing the Ukrainians have developed to "retaliate" against random civilian housing blocks whenever Russia craters a command center. They're basically modern V1/V2 rockets "This will terrify the russian population into submission!!"
Why are you linking an actual propaganda thinktank as an example as of Uyghur Genocide?
You could link any source, but you link one that is staffed by people who's careers have been purely to lie about American's enemies and push American interests?? I hope you're a little sharper than that and you're just linking that because you hope other people will swallow anything.
"HEY GUYS THIS ORGANIZATION THAT IS PAID TO TELL ME THAT CHINA IS BAD, GET THIS, SAYS CHINA IS BAD!!"
Come on bud.
Hexbear - "that's true, I see how our culture can be hard to decipher"
Lemmylib - "you guys are huge dicks without provocation"
Hexbear - oh well fuck you then :)
Lemmylib - "see, so hostile!"
If we respond to people being needlessly aggro with quip derision it's "so uncivil!" If we respond to people in good faith by trying to explain our differing views it's "wow im not going to read that!"
So what should we do?
Most civil and good faith lemmylib.
Americans can call the sky green as much as they want. In the rest of the world, Liberalism = Liberalism, not "democrat".
Liberals are people that believe in liberalism, which can be summed up as "everyone has the individual right to be an asshole, even if it fucks everyone else over".
Fascism is only a vibe, and the vibe is "something CmdrShepard disagrees with"
This is revisionist, river rock stacking and outdoor cats are strictly forbidden.
Nah we clock in early.
"hexbear is toxic"

You're likely getting that response because Hexbear has developed it's own culture of having earnest conversations that are intended to enrich and inform the users taking part in the discussion.
The derisive, dismissive responses are a reaction to someone breaking that etiquette by grandstanding, accusing people of logical fallacies, or resorting to insults: these are things that indicate that the person isn't sincerely interested in trying to understand the person they are speaking to.
That's the second person from hexbear that you didn't realise at the time of posting. You're going to have to get better at spotting us if we're so awful.
telegraph getting upset about free markets?
There's no reason to be afraid of people engaging with your opinion.
There's no "brigading", it's simply a large instance of people who can see active threads, that's all. They can't downvote you, so are accustomed to responding to things thoughtfully and in earnest. There's no reason to be afraid of them unless you literally want to see zero opposing views, or, unless you'd like to call them "tankies" or "bots" but can't cope with similar treatment in kind.
It feels kind of MAGA-y to you because you're using the American definition of Liberal. Both the American Republican party and Democratic party are ideological liberals. Whom MAGA folk would call "liberal", we just call "blue-MAGA".
