Less than 3 years as a developer and already been laid off twice. Does it ever get better?
I'm a 25 yo British guy. I landed my first job as a dev in 2022 for a consultancy with a 1 year international placement, it was good but a few months after returning, the whole cohort was laid off due to corporate politics between the offices in the two countries. After 7 months of searching, I got my second job working for a small pensions fintech startup, it was fine but I didn't find it all that fulfilling. After 9 months of working there, the CEO pulled me into a meeting and said they'd made a mistake hiring me and they needed a more senior developer who could help steer the company from a business perspective too, so I was once again laid off.
That was in January, since then I've had 2 interviews, both of which have gone nowhere. The vibe of every position that's matched my CV has basically been the same sort of work- pretty mundane web dev roles and I can see myself being pulled into a cycle of mundane work then being laid off. I've wanted to be a developer for as long as I can
ReVanced mods the official YouTube apk, meaning you maintain syncing watch history, subscriptions, likes, comments etc. Which iirc NewPipe doesn't. Whether you care about that is entirely up to you though, NewPipe is certainly better if you care more about privacy
This is false, you cannot copyright a typeface. The only part of a font that is covered under copyright is the "software" i.e. the font file itself. Using a typeface in a video (or anywhere that's not redistributing the file) is completely within your (or anyone's) rights.

Yep, my bad no idea how I managed that. Fixed it!
Iirc, it was common for the Kaminoans to remove sexual drives from the species they cloned, but it was specifically stated that doing so in humans made them terrible soldiers. So yeah, they fuck
Am I tripping or does Alec look so much younger here than usual?
Please tell me this is satire.
If it is, then it's quite funny, but in a world where oligarchic fascits are ACTUALLY in control of the US government maybe we should be talking about why and how that is dangerous, instead of watering down the meaning of the word by talking about gardening preferences
I explicitly wanted a google one, not some Samsung-shit who add their own garbage on top of Google's garbage.
Samsung TVs run Tizen which is their own OS, rather than a skinned Android TV. It's pretty minimal so you need some other box or stick if you want a good watching experience, but it doesn't do anything hostile as long as you turn the tracking bs off at setup, and there are no ads in the UI (at least on the 2019 model my parents have).
There's no truly open source TV OS though :( I miss Firefox OS
Honestly, good for you. I switched about a year and a half ago after using Windows literally all my life (well, from when I was 5 years old in primary school anyway).
Never looking back. I now know what a good PC experience is like. One that doesn't bombard you with ads for its own browser and requests to track you every time it stops in the middle of what you were doing to force an update that only makes your experience worse.
I personally use Nobara on my main PC and OpenSuse on my laptop, but whatever you go with, I wish you a good time. (And know that if you don't, there's always a distro out there that will fit your usage better!)
How about we cause extra heat deaths of their stock value
How?
Don't ask me, I'm a dude on the internet
I have no idea what any of this is... Does that mean I'm safe?
Ok but how fluffy is the mash? It's gotta be fluffy not too liquidy. Also did you try adding some garlic and tobasco to the mash? That's how you make perfect mash IMO.
You do you tho, I'm not here to dictate your life.
(Also I might be a teensy bit tipsy so don't take me at face value)
I remember trying the Android TV 14 image a while ago and it was basically unusable as you describe, the new Android TV 15 image has fixed virtually all those issues for me. YMMV but IMO it's worth experimenting and seeing if it works for you, there's a chance I just got lucky though
I'm currently using a raspberry pi 5 flashed with Konstakang's Android TV image, it works pretty flawlessly and takes less than an hour to set up, assuming you have the APKs of everything you want to install. You don't need to mess around with Google play services because most TV android apps are also designed to run on firesticks which don't have it.
The one issue I have encountered is that the Jellyfin client very occasionally won't play some 4k HDR media in the default player (all my 1080p stuff works fine) so I also installed MPV and I turn on alternative player in the Jellyfin settings in the rare case something doesn't work.

Zen is based on Firefox, it supports 100% of firefox addons, as well as supporting its own community mods system for changing the browser itself

Ok the last line needs some work

Zen is literally the best browser around right now, I do understand the UI isn't for everybody but if you vibe with it, it rocks
TIL Madison Square Garden isn't like... A public park or garden 😳. In my defence, I'm British and only ever saw the Madison Cube Garden parody on Futurama, which iirc is actually a garden.
My guess is that it just defaults to a 0 position, rather than actually showing how people have voted.
It won't save us on its own, not even close, but imo that tech will 100% be needed if we want to reduce the impact of climate change. Even if we stopped burning fossil fuels this very second we'd still need to suck a whole lot of carbon out of the atmosphere to get things back on track. Trying to capture carbon while we're still emitting is like trying to bail out the titanic with a teaspoon.
It's also a complete strawman argument, right wingers instantly bring it up when discussing trans people's basic right to exist, as if all trans people are trying to become professional athletes. They also conveniently forget that trans men exist when trying to argue their point.
